Comments/Wave bye to Preppy Cafe :(

For some damn reason all of your comments are not able to post. Hopefully Music Guy can figure it out, Lord knows i have NO clue!

In other sad news, E over at PreppyCafe has closed her doors! It has been a great place to go and get wonderful preppy ideas. She has made such a little blogging family and i will truly miss seeing the bright pink site! BUT as we all know, E does not disappoint, she is keeping Suburban Cupcake up and open for readers! Big hugs to E!

We're heading to 75 Chestnut for brunch! Yummm...I wish i liked bloody's they seem so perfect with eggs!

Kind of a ring pic

That is not a very good picture of the ring, it is a round stone but this makes it look well not round (it was taken with my phone). I will have my mom take a picture and i'll post it soon. And then i'll also post a picture after i get the new band. That won't be until after the first of the year, HA...guess that's not to far away!

A glass of Champagne and a Nantucket basket in the picture, just another example of "All Things Kimba"! Wow, I need to get out more :)!

Last day of work for the year!

I hope you are all enjoying the holidays. Any big plans for New Years Eve? We're still up in the air. My brother and his girlfriend fly in tonight for a few days. His 30th birthday is tomorrow so it should be a fun filled weekend of festivities.

Today is one of our good friends (I've referred to him and his wife as "fav couple" in previous post, as they really are) birthdays! We are all getting together tonight to celebrate all our group has to celebrate... First and foremost his birthday, a new baby on the way from another couple, and two engagements. WOW...talk about happy new year! It's going to be such a fun night, it always is when everyone is able to get together!

I am also looking forward to getting a different band for my ring. I do like the one Music Guy picked out but it is not exactly what I wanted, and he has no problem with me changing it. Good thing! So many wonderful things to look forward to, it is all just starting.

My mom is going to start staying with us tonight. And she'll be here for another week or so. And on Sunday my brother and his girlfriend are going to stay with us. Full house, but it'll be nice to have family around. But after more than a week, I think that will be MORE than enough family time! But we're so lucky we have the room to let everyone shack up!

I am going to get a mani this afternoon, I might be a little better and keeping my paws nice and presentable for the first few months as people will be looking at them! Or is it an excuse to get weekly mani's? Regardless, they look pretty sad, the winter is brutal on these suckers!

Enough yackin' for one morning. I'll check in with what i ended up doing for a color! :)

Who doesn't love pictures!

Here is a pictures of the blanket and the other goodies! You can see with the shadows how sunny it was!
And our first picture as an engaged couple. Not the best "people" picture, but it truly was perfect! I get such a big smile when I look at this picture and remember one of the most perfect and special days in my life!

I'll post more pictures after Music Guys mom and my mom send them to us! They have more fun people pictures from when we first got back to the house.

A very Merry Christmas

I hope you all had a very wonderful Christmas! I did indeed! My mom and I headed down to the Cape on Christmas Eve morning, Music Guy got up early and left first thing. My mom and I had to do a little more shopping so we figured we'd go to the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis as appose to any of the malls on Rt. 3. I had to get a new pair of shoes as I noticed when I was driving the ones I was wearing were starting to fray. Annoying, I had only wore them twice. Argh! Anywho, we finally got to Music Guy's parents and their house was decorated so beautiful! (like always)

A few days ago Music Guy told me he always goes down to the beach to toast his sister for Christmas. There is a rock off of Craigsville Beach in Centerville that is the center point of where they laid his sisters ashes in the ocean. He had asked if I would like to join him and I of course wanted to.

We got to their house around 1ish, watched a little bit of the Pats game and then we were off to the beach. It was a little cloudy but when we got to the beach the sun came out and it was so peaceful. We were the only ones on the beach, Music Guy kept point to what looked like the rock and there was also a ferry heading out to Nantucket it was neat to be able to be there with him to share in his special tradition.

All of a sudden he looks over and says "What the fuck...what is that..what do you think that is" and I was trying to figure out what he was talking about. It was a blanket and roses and a bottle of Champagne and I turn to him and he is on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! Of course I started crying and was so shocked. I had NO idea it was going to happen over Christmas, I knew it was going to be over the next couple months. We were still the only ones on the beach it was one of the best moments of my life. We sat and talked about all the things you talk about right after you get engaged like who knew, how he came up with the idea, when he got the ring, all that good stuff. I have never seen him so happy and I felt like the luckiest girl in the world! We tried to take some pictures of ourselves but they sure didn't look so good! Then all of a sudden this English family came walking by and they took our picture. It turned out great! Not the best of me but who cares! I will get them on line and post it soon!

We then headed back to the house after being there for an hour! We pulled in and his sister J, my mom and his mom came running outside clapping. I can't get over how thrilled everyone was it was overwhelming and very exciting!

J had come home right when we got there, she was out buying some last minute gifts and then Music Guys mom had forgotten something at the store and asked J to go. Well little did I know she was really going down to the beach to set the whole thing up. Music Guy and her had planned it a few days before. And he had gone down to the beach that morning and marked the spot so she would know where to go. She then texted him when it was ok for us to leave. It was so special because both of his sisters played a part in his master plan!

My mom talked and talked and talked the whole drive down to the Cape and at one point I was like good god woman, shhhhshhh. She was so scared she was going to say something and trip me off to what was going on, so she had to keep her self busy and drive me nuts!

After we got back we cheered with his parents, J and her hubby to be G and my mom. Then it was off to make the calls. It was so neat to tell all the people we love!

We are planning to get married in the Summer of 2008, which is prefect as we are planning it either on the Vineyard or the Cape. The Vineyard would be perfect for us! We have spent a lot of time fishing and being around the Island!

I will post again on all my Christmas goodies, one good one was J gave me a shopping bag FULL of Bridal maggers, I can't wait to dive in!

Christmas Eve Eve

I wonder if today will be the day I finish my shopping? I NEVER do this, I always have it done early, but for some reason this year...not so much! Maybe it's because I have just worried about our new place and then all of a sudden I look around and there is NOTHING under our tree.

Wait wait wait, why is it all about the gifts? Shouldn't I be thinking about something with a little more meaning? It could be that I really enjoy getting things for people. I know you say it but it's true, I would rather get everyone something and never get anything. I hate getting gifts, I am way to damn picky and if it isn't a gift card to a place I enjoy, I wouldn't know what to do with it. Now that I am ungrateful! :)

We had such a fun night last night, we had two of our very fun couples over! Hick and his bride to be and Fav couple. Music Guy and I LOVE having people over, and we never could before because our places were never big enough. But now I'm always like come over come over! Nothing beats having a few cocktails and listening to good music with the people you love!

Again MERRY CHRISTMAS! If you really want to get into Christmas check out Lisagh over at Grosgrain Garage she's got it all dialed down!

I am about to start cleaning the place and then off to get some last minute (HA...) gifts! Can't forget my slicker! At least it's not show!

Merry Merry

I think I have returned more things this Christmas season than I have bought. Target had a griddle on sale and I know Music Guy has wanted one so perfect, we now have a griddle and heck it was even on sale. I didn't wrap it because I didn't want it to be a "real" Christmas gift, as we are not doing that. So after he saw it he didn't like it because it was one that plugged in not one we'd set on the gas stove. So it was back to Target to return it, luckily the lines aren't long for that yet. But it's a heck of a lot of traffic to deal with to return one thing. So I was forced to buy something to make it worth while.

My mom and I strolled down Charles St today, I sure miss Beacon Hill. Yea yea yea, but it's true, I really enjoy the area and every time I am there I run into someone I know. Oh well. That's in the past! HA.

Hopefully we'll have a low key night, I have some laundry in only to find out after the load was done the washing machine does not spin. It just fills up with water and drains for the whole cycle. I had 10 pairs of jeans washing (only one of which were mine) and they weren't even that wet, but covered in suds. But the guy downstairs is not here so i used his washer, thanks! So now I have to tell our Landlord, and that is not really what i'd like to call them about.

Catching up on my Rachael Ray shows and wrapping up some of the few prezzies I got. I'll finish tomorrow when the rest of the men are, along with the pouring rain. Who needs a drink!

I know a lot of you will be taking off so I wanted to wish you all a very Happy Holidays. Merry Christmas!!! :) Have fun and enjoy!

My poor blog

Me again, this blog is lacking. I have so much to blog about (now i am starting to make a list) is this turning into a problem...? Yes...so be it. I love love love it! Now that that is out of the way.

I still have zero shopping done. I am taking off in about a half hour to head over to Beacon Hill to meet my mom and hit Charles St for some preppy gifts. My friend Sara knows me all to well. Each gift she got me I loved and was perfect, they were "all things kimba". I will take pictures and post them later.
Now for what to get her, I have been meaning to go to the Flat of the Hill to get her gift, you can't go wrong shopping there. What I do do wrong is buy way to many cute preppy items. Not possible!

I am addressing the last of my Christmas cards, I have sent out all of my blog friends cards so keep an eye out! I received Erin's card and it was such a cute pic of her Ladybug and I had to laugh as i remembered a post she had written about that day. Also she added a very nice touch, To: "Kimba" and "Music Guy". I came home and he said I think you got a blog Christmas card, i said why, and then i saw it, and had to laugh! That is what it is all about!

OH, I made the Preppy Bark last night and it turned out very cute. I also made my boss and another gal at work (who has to listen to all of my stories, poor thing) monogrammed candles, they turned out pretty cute! I am making some for Music Guy's mom and sister. Just a little preppy touch for the Holidays! I saw it in Real Simple, and that it was!

I'll be back later! Giddy up!

Happy Holi-Hump Day

I am trying like heck to get my work done and get out of here. I have a sinus infection and two ear infections and ZERO shopping done.

But I wanted to stop in and let you all know I have been keeping up on your blogs and you have all come up with a ton of great Christmas idea's. I too will be making the "Preppy Bark".

I'll check tonight hopefully after some Christmas shopping is complete and I've taken a little nap!

Happy Birthday Momma!

Well today is my mom's 60th birthday! She came to my work and I took her out to lunch, we had such a wonderful time. She is now on her way to the Wang theater to see The Radio City Christmas Spectacular! I am not sure if she has seen the Rockettes before, but regardless this will be a great show!

Tonight we are having her over for dinner. I asked her if she'd like us to take her out to dinner or if we should stay in and make it. She opted for the latter. Which for a Tuesday night is fine with me! I don't think I know exactly what we're going to make, but it'll be great to have her there!

You know my mom said yesterday she needs to get a mani and pedi soon. And of course I do also, I mean who doesn't! So maybe her and I can do that after work tonight? I think that sounds like a plan. Though I would need to get a mani before we head to the Cape for Christmas, my nails wouldn't last that long. So sad. Which reminds me I need to pick up Vitiame E to help my nails. I get so mad at Sara, her manicures last for weeks. Mine on the other hand...not so much!

I am trying to figure out what days I want to take off next week. The whole week sounds like a better plan, but that's not an option. Maybe the day after Christmas and that Friday? It'll be a slow week regardless, but it would be nice to have a long weekend.

Hope you guys are having a good Tuesday. It is finally cold in Bean-Town so it is starting to feel a lot like Christmas...Which I LOVE!

Happy Friday

Hi guys, I am just popping in to say hi and have a great weekend.

Music Guy and I are off to Wisconsin today for my dad's family Christmas, woohoo! I haven't been home in so long, and Music Guy has never come home with me so I can't wait to show him around! We will be flying back on Sunday so a very short trip!

I had my work Christmas Lunch yesterday, it was so fun, i'll tell you more when I post again.

If you're in the Boston area enjoy this weather, I of course will be flying into low 40's.

Giddy up! :)

"Holy Crap"

Peter Boyle has passed away. People article

That show wasn't off the air that long ago. I knew he was sick, but didn't know it had gotten that bad.
I never watched the show in real time, I would always watch it on TBS, re-runs.

I was trying to do some online shopping for Music Guy and gosh I still have no clue, I feel like such a bad Kimba. Who can't think of SOMETHING for their boyfriend of 2 1/2 years? Me, that's who.

I know he doesn't read my blog, sometimes if I think I have written something witty I'll pull it up and make him see, but other than that, he could care less. HA. But in a good way. So if you can think of something small you can leave it in the comments.

We are going to buy a grill for our place so if it were me I would rather take the $50 limit we set for each other and put that towards a grill. But I really can't complain if my guy wants to buy me something. He says I do not have to get him anything, but let's me honest! I really do!

Back to work!

I knew it

That this week was going to FLY. When I already have my whole week planned out by Sunday afternoon, I know this week was going to get away from me. Our work Christmas Party (nope, i will NOT say "Holiday") is tomorrow and we are doing a Secret Santa (nope, i will NOT say "Yankee Swap") and I have yet to get the gift. I wanted to go to Christmas Tree Shop and get a Nantucket basket to put the goodies in. But nope, I have not even done that. If worse comes to worse I will go to Downtown Crossing and hit up Bath and Body Works. But I really wanted to get some good and preppy (hoping to get it back)! hehe.

Speaking of work, I have two, two hour conference calls today and they are actually great topics so that helps. But it doesn't help me get my work done that I need to. I have an all day off site meeting tomorrow along with our Christmas work Lunch which is in the North End and everyone is looking forward to the wine. But I'll need to control myself so I can come back to the office afterwards and get anything done I didn't today. If I don't I'll need a nap! And on Friday i'm off so that isn't an option!

I've been meaning to blog about this all week but never got a chance.

I received my English Tea Paperie cards this weekend and I was soooooo pleased! Chloe over at ETP is one talented gal. Besides the super cute cards, Chloe had it wrapped in cute pink tissue and held it together with an ETP sticker and then when I opened it there was the cutest white tote bag with a pink and white poka-dot ribbon ribbon attached to another super cute accessory ribbon tag with her logo on it. LOVE IT. I know she took pictures and put them on her site, but the real thing is so classy! And that was just the packaging! The note cards are to die for. I ended up ordering the Blue Toile (shocker) Assam. It is uber preppy! I can't wait to send out my first card and spread the word. Big hugs to Chloe for following her dreams and creating this classic business!

That seems to be it for now, i have to get some lunch with my girl Sara and then back on another call!

Happy Hump Day!

Tuesday it is....

I think for the most part (besides our bedroom) we are pretty much moved in and finished. And it's a great feeling! People come in and think we've lived here for years. Which i guess is a good thing, but then i wonder if i have to much crap around! Anywho. Another busy week in the Kimba/Music Guy household! We are getting our laundry done now, as before i know it i'll be packing and heading home!

Have you been following the sox news? Matsuzaka for 100 million, YIKES. Baseball is getting out of control, salary cap? Who needs it!

Nothing special to report for dinner, i have no interest to make a thing. House is on and it's new so i'm a fan!

I fear turning on our Christmas tree lights as every time the tree is touched or moves it drops about 1000 needles. Getting that beast out is going to be fun! Throw it off the deck? I'm in!

Starting next week I am getting out my sewing and will post some goodies for ya'll to see!

Have a good night, it's freakin' cold now but tomorrow it is suppose to be in the upper 50's Giddy up!

Monday, December 11, 2006

Here I am!

Whoa, what a crazy last few weeks. But not to worry I'm back!

Music Guy and I had said we were NOT going to get anything for each other for Christmas, instead we'd get things for the apartment. I couldn't have been happier! Until he said we should set a limit and not go over because he has a few little things he wants to get me. Oh great. I was so happy to be off the hook with Christmas shopping for him. He never gives me any idea's and I have absolutely NO clue what to get him. This is suppose to be a happy time and fun, but I'm stumped. I have to get my shopping shoes on and just get it done! It will be fun and I love to buy for him (when i know what i'm looking for) so it's really not that bad! HA.

This past weekend Music Guy's parents came for a Christmas gathering and stayed the night. It was so much fun. We made a great casual dinner and just enjoyed each other! Lots of laughs!This week is so busy!

Tomorrow I have an all day meeting out of the office, it will be a great training, but it's so hard to be gone all day with no access to email or vmail. I will be able to check my email on my BlackBerry, but it's just not the same. Wednesday night I have to go to Beacon Hill to clean up my old apartment. My mom is coming out for a few weeks and will be staying at my old place, so i need to do a lot of cleaning.Thursday we have an all day meeting (again) and our holiday lunch party and of course a yankee swap. I haven't yet to buy ANY Christmas gifts, i am so bad this year. Then on Friday Music Guy and I fly to Madison on Friday for my family Christmas.

Needless to say I have tons to do and am very stressed but am spending my time blogging. Go figure!I am going to start making my headbands again and also get more crafty, i can't wait. Now this is the real Kimba!

There is NOTHING on TV tonight, and we couldn't find a movie to watch. I am hoping to grab my Country Living and hit it.Crazy week here i come!

Sunday, December 10, 2006

tis' the weekend

Hi guys, this was one crazy long long week. Music Guy and I had his family over for a little "In the City Christmas". It was so fun. I'll fill you all in when i post again. I am just sitting here watching the Pats enjoying a nice Sunday at home. Also what a great day!

Hope you guys are having a great weekend. I will post more next week!

One thing....... Baby dolls as a gift for a 18month girl is a perfect gift. Music Guy's mom got our friends daughter one (they came over last night so we could see the little gal) and it was a huge hit... Note to all! :)

Cooking help

I am NOT the cook of the household, I do try but at the end of the day it really is better if i keep my rear out of the kitchen...Unless asked to help.

Every year Music Guy's parents have a pre-Christmas in the city and this year we are hosting it. Instead of going out to dinner and only having hor'deurves and wine at our place like they have done in previous years, we are staying in and making dinner.

Music Guy suggested we do some sort of skirt steak sandwiches and heavy hor'deurves. I LOVE this idea, it is more casual and less stressful. We also wanted to have a lot of different sauces or toppings and this is were I am stuck.

If you have some idea's please let me know, I am open to ANYTHING!

~~~
VERY busy day back at work today, Monday's are super hard days for me to take off. But what's a girl to do. It was also so freakin' chilly out, I know this is nothing but man this stunk. I do not like this...at all, darn it.
I have a busy rest of the week at work, I am just relaxing tonight. I started my weekly list of "to-do's" and the top to-do is wash the bathroom floors. That is for tomorrow, I can't bring myself to do that right now. I want to just curl up on the couch and read my magazines. Speaking of maggers I have changed my address on some of them but am waiting to get them in either my old mailbox or forwarded and they have not shown up in either place. I put in a change of address request and I have yet to get ONE piece of mail forwarded. I am so not happy, I love mail!
I wish I had more to say but I am just spent!
My Monday off
Hi All! I took the day off today and it was a well spent day. First off we had a very good weekend, it was even better knowing I had a long one!
I got up around my normal time and laid around on the couch blogging and just playing on the internet. Which Music Guy is about to put me on a timer with this thing :( "That's all you do". That is so not true, I do however spend a lot of time just reading random blogs but I also use it for even educational things. Like the News and um.... People.com, that's about it, other than that it's blogging. OH I also look for headband ideas. See I do use it for more than blogging or shopping.
I had a lot of things to get done so I headed to the Christmas Tree Shop to look for a tree skirt. I found a good one that was only $2.99, it's just a cream fleece with a little snowflake print around the edges, simple yet cute and oh so cheap! Then I had to hit up Target to find some workout pants for again cheap. I don't mind spending money but for things like that i'd rather not if I don't have to. And I found some super cute ones for only $14.99 on sale, they are just what I wanted. Picked up some other daily things for our place, nothing special but for some reason I was able to spend a TON. I think I was reading an old post from Erin's blog about how she always seems to be able to spend $80 dollars at Target, I too feel that is one of the easiest things to do without really getting anything "good". Paper towels and soap doesn't add up that much, yikes, I might need to be watched when I go there.
Then it was off to pick up some goodies for the week. I just love Johnny Foodmaster's deli turkey, it taste just like any of their high end deli meat, just for the record! I got some pita pockets because they are only 1 point on Weight Watchers and they are honey oat, yummy! So a sandwich is only 2-3 points and for lunch that's great plus filling, also easy to eat at work.
I have some chocolate chip cookies in the oven and I am getting ready to start dinner. Funny how domestic I am when i'm not in the office all day! We just had Comcast come to run another line to our bedroom. Oh joy...nothing like Music Guy falling asleep with the TV on and I am the one who has to get up to turn it off! Poor Kimba!!
I'm off to make dinner. I am making Turkey Kielbasa, baked beans and a veggie mix. Kind of a weird combo, but that's what happens when I am left to make dinner, as you can tell unless we are having taco's Music Guy plans the meals!
My outfit for today!
This is the coat i'm wearing, it looks odd when I post it, but it really is cute!
My sweater is in brown, I have dark brown eyes and Mrs. Kimba always said I should wear more brown so when I made my JCrew sale buys I got it just because of her!
These shirts are a staple in my closet, a lot of time Music Guy and I will show up and we'll be wearing the same shirt, of course then I have to change!
Nothing special, just regular pants, these are not the exact ones, but I got these so long ago I was unable to find a link or picture of them. But these are close enough!
Rooooaarrrrr
That was pretty pathetic , that was a roar for the Pats and Lions game at 1pm today. We're heading over to fav couple's house to watch the game. Always a good time. Last year it got a bit out of hand, it's their Christmas "Party" and or just a reason to get everyone together and watch the game.
Music Guy has a Christmas Party tonight for work. I will not be attending with him, it's at a club in Boston and that's just not where I could see myself on a Sunday evening. And he's also not going to be there for very long so I don't feel as bad!
I took tomorrow off, so this is a long weekend for Kimba!
I've been catching up on my new blog friends old post, it's fun to read how they were and how they are now. Smart, fun and oh so preppy!
You know when you see the jewelry commercials around Christmas time and they show all off the sale great presents, why are they all SO ugly? I see these woman get these terrible necklace and they're so happy. I do understand the Lexus commercials, I mean those are nice hoopdies.
All a few Sunday thoughts as I wait for Music Guy to get ready!
Christmas Tree oooo Christmas Tree
We need to pick out some dining room table chairs, and I have NO idea what way to go. I do know what i'd really like but I think those are out of the question. Music Guy's parents are going to get them for us for Christmas, which is soo nice! Mrs. Kimba (my mom) got us one of our couches, so we've really lucked out.
We joined a gym in the next town over yesterday, it is only $10 a month. They just opened and are trying to get members, worked for me! When our fav couple came over on Thursday they were telling us all about it, so we signed up on line and in a half hour we're going to have our first workout there. Regardless of what it's like you can't beat $10 a month. We both were members at the Beacon Hill Athletic Club, and it SUCKED...I paid $64 a month for a crappy no good gym so nothing could be any worse! If you can't tell I feel very strongly about it. HA.
Then it's off to get our Christmas tree, I can't wait! I wanted to get it the Friday after Turkey Day but we couldn't find an open tree lot. The only place i saw was K-Mart, and for me there was just a little something about getting my tree at K-Mart that didn't feel right.
At some point I need to run to the Christmas Tree Shop to return some crappy window candles, i got 10 of them and none of the worked. Damn it. Then I went to CVS and found the exact ones i wanted for a dollar less each. Score!
Not sure whats on for the PM but we'll worry about that when the time comes!
I hope you guys have a great Saturday, I really love the weekends!
:)
Comments
It seems that when you try to post a comment there is an error message. I think i fixed it. Send me an email if you are still unable to get them to go through! Thank you!
Kimba
DAMN YOU TO HECK JCREW!
I just got an email that if I do a little more Sale shopping on JCrew.com I can have it shipped for only $4.95. That is a super good deal, last time i paid about three times that. Can't blog must shop!
Use code NFS-HL3
Giddy Up
Bean...Bean...Bean
I was so happy to see my L.L. Bean order sitting on my desk when I got to work this morning. I processed to open it with the same excitement as I would if the box said JCrew or any other goodies I purchased on line.
As you know I ordered charcoal but when pulled the first one out it was NAVY...ok ok not a big deal at least it wasn't pink (though I would have loved that) BUT they were also the wrong size. Not to happy about that, but Music Guy said to bring them home and he'll try them, so hopefully they work. Bean is usually really good with their orders, busy time of year I suppose!
I have had a turkey sandwich everyday this week for lunch, i am kind of getting sick of them. Or maybe it's the low cal bread I bought, bread is just not one of those things you can REALLY skimp on. You can do low cal but this time I did the lowest. Music Guy had one sandwich and hated it because it didn't even hold together. I kept telling him how much I liked it, after four days of this stuff I too agree, it sucks!
One of our favorite couples is coming over tonight, it will be so neat to show off our place to someone new. I'm not going to lie, it is fun to have people come over and see what we've done. Must be because we've put a lot of work into it and it's nice to see it pay off. Weird?
My nails will not hold nail polish if my life depended on it, no joke..NONE. So when ever I get my nails done I am left only using very light colors. The one I tend to go with is Bubble Bath from OPI, it's a good color stays on for at least two days, and then chips. Any advice? Besides don't waste your money getting your nails done! :)
LL Bean
Here the slippers i got for Music Guy, he needed some slippers for just knocking around the house and when he goes on the deck! They're a great deal, only $19.50 and come in some very manly colors...Forest Green, Navy and the shown Charcoal. LandsEnd also has some cute slippers for both guys and gals. I sent Music Guy links to these and ones from LandsEnd but L.L. Bean won out! Which makes me sad, being from Wisconsin I was hoping to support Wisconsin's own LandsEnd. Oh well i'm at East Coast gal now!
I heart blogging!
I was looking at some of my favorite blogs and thought why not check out what they like to read. And i found so many wonderful blogs. The ones I'm really getting into are Cottage/decorating blogs, it is so neat to see how everyone decorates their homes. I have already seen so many things i just adore. I wish i would have done this before I moved. I'll just have to tweak a few things!
I have a feeling I'll spend most of my evening blogging, sorry hun!
More pictures
If i worked from home this would be the perfect spot! Good thing one of us does! He has a lot more awards to put on the wall! Giddy up!
This is the den, i like this picture because you can see the slant. And also the Red Sox blanket i made for Music Guy last Easter.
My order has arrived....
FINALLY....My JCrew order is here. And of course I love it all. Go figure! The sweater for Music Guy is super cute, hopefully he too will like it. The jackets are nice, I'll have a mini fashion show with myself when I get home. I just need to hang some more mirrors up to see!
The bus ride this morning was a bit more of what I should expect, now that Turkey Day has passed. It was very busy on the bus, a lot of riders and no one looked happy. I on the other had was very happy. Music Guy updated my iPod so I got to listen to The Fray "How to Save a Life" my whole ride in. Oh, I did mix in some Paolo Nutini "New Shoes", his stuff is great. He is suppose to be better and bigger then James Blunt, and I agree! Music Guy works for a record company and they are putting out Paolo's CD. And it is sooo good.
Because he works in the music business and loves music, I always get to hear the new stuff first, I won't lie I don't always like what he's playing but it's a nice when I do! Speaking of nice things, now that we are shaking up together I get the benefit of his Apple Airport Airtunes (i think that's what it's called). It's so cool, wireless music every place in the house! I am already enjoying it!
We put up some Christmas decorations last night, it looks great, hopefully I'll get a picture up soon!
Busy busy now, i'm sure i'll blog when i get home!
One week ago today....
I was calling the Boston Police Department to tow the cars that hadn't moved from our City parking permit. That's a way to start a Sunday, but you do what ya gotta do!
Last night Music Guys parents, sister and her fiance came over for a little visit. It was the most people we've had in here since we've moved in. It was fun to get together in a new location. His parents stayed the night so it was even nicer when we woke up to have a full house, everyone enjoying a nice warm cup of coffee.
Last night we ordered pizza, Rustic Chicken from Papa Ginos. If you have the chance I would suggest trying it. The pizza has a thin crust and a little parm sprinkle to give it a kick. Yumm!
This afternoon I have a baby shower, Music Guys Mom is one of the three planning it for a good friend of the family. I'm going to meet up with Music Guys sister and we'll head over for some good baby talk.
Then the Pat's game is at 4:15, I can't wait for this game. I hate hate hate Da Bears. GO PATS!
I can't get over we're approaching December, hold on to your mittens kids!
I'm about to enjoy an egg boca sausage breakfast sandwich, thanks Hun!
And another
Here is our coffee table, I normally have sand, shells and a candle in the hurricane. But because it is Christmas and I LOVE this time of year, I have pinecones, green and red smelly thingys. It looks great in person! Oh and of course Denis Leary is looking at you, he's on the cover of the Boston Common.
TAA-DAA
It's very simple, but adds just that little extra to the room!
Happy Saturday!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we did indeed!
I would love to hear if any of you enjoyed black Friday! If you head over to Erin's blog you'll see she sure did, you go girl! My mom and I use to get up early and just "enjoy" the crowds, it was fun to watch all the people run around! I remember going to Target or Wal-Mart and getting a free stuffed Santa for being the first 500 or something along those lines! Oh those were the days.
Yesterday was a bit different for me. I did do some shopping but it was not for Christmas gifts, it was for household items. And it was FUN! We came back early from the Cape to keep on trucking with our place. I first headed off to the Christmas Tree Shop, I'm not going to lie I really love that place! I picked up a ton of red and green Christmas candles, some other little Christmas goodies. The one I went to was very picked over so I tried to get out of there as quick as I could. I was not about to waste time, and also there were grey hair's everywhere. I then headed over to A.C. Morre to get a BUNCH of fake hydrangeas. I have been waiting forever to put together my Nantucket Basket and hydrangea centerpiece (I'll have Music Guy take a picture). Speaking of Music Guy, he's been so good this last week. He just sits back and let's me decorate and if he thinks something would be better he'll let me know, but most of the time he just tells me how nice it looks! Anywho.... They were having a sale 50% off all fake flowers, so I cleaned them out. I don't have a place for them all, but at the price I'll find a spot! Then it was off to Target, this was not as fun as my first two stops! I had some real work to do, list and all! Kind of annoying...But I got it done, the only thing I forgot was coffee filters.
Then it was back home to make the long awaited centerpiece and fill my other baskets with goodies. I have a very Cape style and I wanted to keep it that way so we mixed my lighthouses and ACK baskets with stainless steel, wood and a few other items to give it a city feel.
Now we're at today! Music Guy and I woke up and walked to the store to get some eggs and english muffins for our first breakfast at our new place. It was so nice and relaxing, I could get use to that (and the fact Music Guy made it for me)! Another nice thing is we have Johnny Foodmasters right down the street and we're SO use to Whole Foods I couldn't get over we walked out of there with breakfast items for under $30.00 (we also got OJ and cranberry juice).
Then I had to run back to The Christmas Tree Shop to return a tad to shiny vase and also pick up some window candle lights for each of our downstairs windows.
While I was doing all of that Music Guy was cleaning and helping me with laundry. His parents are coming today to stay the night. I can't wait for his mom to finally see our place, a lot of how I have decorated is just like her place. Difference is A. Her things are a lot nicer and classier and B. She lives on the Cape, so her style works much better!
I am on my way back to the store. I can not have his parents come and the only things we have in our place are Chardo, tonic, Coolers Lite, cheese and eggs!
I hope you guys here on the East Coast are enjoying this wonderful Saturday! Also Notre Dame and USC play tonight, if USC loses that is REALLY GOOD for Michigan. GO ND!
Gobble Gobble...
Turkey Day is almost here! I am very excited this year. I will be spending it with Music Guy's family on the Cape. We're heading down this afternoon (fingers crossed I can get out of work). We have not been down to the Cape this fall, it has been so busy, this is a much needed trip.
The apartment is coming right along. We have cleared out all of the boxes and have started hanging pictures. I love love love our place. It is so "me"!
I just got an email that JCrew is offering $4.95 for shipping if you shop online over the weekend. So of course I click on their site to see if they have added any more sale items. AND they have....The thing that ticks me off is their were these cropped cords I had put in my shopping bag and when I went to check out they were sold out. BUT they're back on line now. It's BS. I also checked my order status and it shipping yesterday, which means it won't get here today before the long weekend. I might come into work on Friday to see if it is here. But my luck it won't be and it will be a wasted trip. I hate doing ground shipping, I feel they don't ship it out for days. And it's coming from VA so it'll take two days to get to Boston.
Enough of that, we're kicking off the Holiday season and I am in a super great mood. We're getting a tree on Friday and putting out all of the Christmas decorations. :)
I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving! Lots o' food and football...Best day ever!
LETS GO BLUE!
Today is a big day....
#2 Michigan vs. #1 Ohio State One of these teams is going to be going to the BCS Bowl and the other will be playing in the Rose Bowl. We want the BCS Bowl.
Music Guy is from Detroit and is a huge Wolverines fan, he has been waiting for this game all season!
We are going to spend the morning finishing up any last minute packing, I have to go to the store and pick up some cheese and crackers for the 4th annual Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner tonight. A good friend of ours has all of our close friends over and makes this WONDERFUL Thanksgiving dinner! More on that tomorrow (well maybe not tomorrow, but soon)
Busy Saturday in the Kimba household.
Have a great weekend. :)
Oh Kimba
I was going to change the post below so it doesn't have the pix on the left. But then I thought i'd leave it, that's just me learning this blogging thingy! :)
My goodies
As i'm sure you all know from reading Chloe's blog securing your goodies in your JCrew Shopping Bag is NOT easy. These are a few of the things I ordered, when I went back to post the pics some of them were already gone. So here are just three of the tops I got.
30% off Sale items always gets me!
So I get into work this morning and I have a nice little email sitting in my inbox that says 30% off of all Final Sale Items at JCrew. Oh crap, why not! But I did pick up a cute little sweater for Music Guy, Mr. NOT Preppy at all i'm sure will enjoy the threads from JCrew.
In other news, Only two nights of sleeping in my old place. It's bittersweet. I've very excited to be moving in with Music Guy, but i'll kind of miss my old place! But when we are finally settled i'll know this was the best move ever!
I'll post some pix of what i got this morning from JCrew, but i am just too busy now! :)
Address Labels
Quick question...
Can any of you lovely readers suggest a good website for address labels? I would like to place the order fairly soon to ensure I get them before Christmas time. I am looking for maybe a lighthouse or nautical theme. But I am open to ANYTHING!
Thanks!
WHITE!!!!
I can't wait to start mixing color's with these, all i can think of now is NAVY!!!!!!!!!
It's already Hump Day?/!
This weekend flew by and this week is just about at the same pace.
Friday, Music Guy and I did a TON of packing at my place. He was such a great help, we both just dug in and got a lot of things boxed up. Then later in the evening we met our friends Terry and Kelley who were in town for their engagement party (see below post) for a few drinks at the 7's. And then it was time to head home to bed!
Saturday we met our new Landlord and got our keys. We had never seen the apartment in the day time, and let me tell you it looks SO much bigger! I am sooo happy with it! Then it was off to IKEA and Jordan's. We decided on the couches from IKEA. And white it is!
That evening was the engagement party, we headed to a friends for some pre-engagement party drinks and then off to 21A for the celebration! It was a great time and a lovely night to boot!
Sunday it poured and didn't even get very light outside, very annoying. We watched the Pats game while I did some more packing. Then we headed up to Music Guy's apartment and did some more cleaning and packing there. Then it was time to figure out dinner. This was our last Sunday night dinner in Beacon Hill so we did what any normal Resident would do, we ordered Upper Crust. Best Pizza and salad's on the Hill! We ended up getting a pepperoni and pepper pizza, and a Greek chicken salad. Yummmm, I could have just gone with the salad. We had gotten it before but this time I thought a little chicken would hit the spot, and I was right! Pat's lost which sucked, but they'll take one in Green Bay this weekend. Which is hard for me being a Packer fan also!
Monday it also never got light, I had a super busy day at work and then spent the night packing and making myself get rid of some clothes! Pretty much the same for yesterday. This is NOT All things Kimba, but for now this is what you get! :)
What a cute dress needs!
Everyone has those cute little dresses that only need a cute necklace to really make the outfit "pop"! Pearls are great, but with so many cute preppy options out there why just limit yourself to pearls? *I myself am a pearl girl so please no comments on me being a pearl basher*
One of music guys (how I will refer to my lovely boyfriend) best buddies is engaged to a very talented Jewelry designer out of NYC, Kelley Pillman of KEP Designs. I was talking with KEP last month at a friends wedding and she said "You should check out my Jewelry, they would go great with all of the cute dresses you have". So it got me thinking, she's right! I need to head on over to her site and pick out some goodies! I have found a few that I don't think I can live without!
Also, if you live in Boston you should stop by In The Pink on Newbury Street and see some of KEP's single strand pieces. It's nice if you can see it in person before buying, but I've seen a ton of her work and I'm all over it!
Here are the ones I will be ordering, maybe not ALL, but my wish list has begun!
I think this topic comes from the fact we'll be attending their Engagement Party tomorrow night. If I was more on the ball I would have placed my order a few weeks ago. When we talked about it, but that's for Charlestown days. This blog isn't ALL about giving my friends or other designers I enjoy shout outs, but it also doesn't hurt. I think I've had so many things i've wanted to blog about I just hadn't done it, so now it's all spilling out!
Which now has me thinking about what i am going to wear tomorrow night. I think some jeans and cute heels, but for the top? I packed away most of my clothes and can't justify buying anything as it will have to be moved. So what's a girl to do. Maybe Sara and I will take a trip and see if a really nice cute top is on sale! Speaking of Sara, we'll address her later, i want to have a whole post just for her! She doesn't own her own company so don't worry I won't be pushing more things on you!
Link Correction
Sorry guys, i was so giddy about figuring out how to add links i didn't even notice i did not link Chole's link correctly! It's all set now so happy shopping!
Happy Thursday Bloggers!
This has been a quick week. And this weekend feels already gone! Friday night I plan on just packing and sorting of course a glass or two of wine might be thrown in there. GOOD TIMES! Saturday morning we go and pick up our keys and go over the apartment with the Landlords. Then off to look at couches, we're going to check out IKEA and Jordan's. IKEA had some great couches but they don't deliver, and that is a major bummer. So I am trying not to like the ones I looked at in the hopes I won't be sad! But Jordan's always has great things and we'll be able to something we both like! Then back home for more apartment stuff. Saturday night we have an engagement party for some dear friends. It is great because the party is at the 21st Amendment which is right in Beacon Hill, a nice walk! And then for Sunday I'm assuming FOOTBALL and more packing and throwing.
When I started writing this post I had something in mind. So here it is. I know most of you have heard of English Tea Paperie from our girl Chloe. But also am in love with Tres Chic Designs. How I stumbled upon her site is very "Kimba"! I was reading MCM's blog and she had posted about a new polo line called Salmon Cove so I went on over to their site and started looking around at the pictures, they had a picture of Jillian from Tres Chic working at the CK Bradley store in NYC and she had a table with her goodies...So long story short I looked her site up and was sold from first click! I sent Jillian an email and told her about a few places in Beacon Hill her products would be prefect for. And of course also let her know about my blog, so everyone wave hi to Jillian!
We have been so lucky to be introducded to both Chole and Jillian's talent...so let's get on it and buy buy buy!
I'm off to Whole Foods (via the O'B Jeep thx Sara) to pick up some goodies for dins though it will only be good enough to put on the George...no cooking until we hit Chuck-town!
Kimba out... (i've always wanted to say that)
BTW, just so you all know i just learned how to use the link button in a post! This has been a good week for me!
Test...testing....
GIDDY UP I DID IT! :)
WE HAVE LINKS
If you notice to the right side we have a few new links! Just some Kimba goodies, at first I thought I knew what I wanted to put up, but now I'm kind of at a loss! Next big step is pictures!
I indeed did some throwing away last night. I had four large trash bags, not sure why on earth I thought I needed that much "stuff". Tonight will be spent going through clothes, that will be a chore! I have a small extra room in my apartment, it is called my "closet". My guy said it would be a good idea to clean that room out and move some of my mom's things and the boxes I've already packed in there to give us more room. He's so smart! I already have two bags of clothes and other miscellaneous items I am going to drop off at Goodwill. Or if I find something I think my homeless friends would like I'll drop it off on my walk to work.
I am looking forward to sorting my clothes, I hope to find some yummy surprises. It's always nice when I pull out a little cute sweater I had forgotten about! But then again, I am assuming I'll run across some things that I will not want anyone to know I bought! More later!
So not little Miss Blog Savvy
I need to sit down with a Blog Help manual and figure this thing out. I long for the day's of being able to post pictures and links. I am pretty good with computers but this thing is trying to get the best of me. It won't be long and I'll have all sorts of pictures and goodies for all to see!
I am in the middle of making my KIMBA TO-DO LIST. I looked around my apartment this morning and now I am freaking out! It will be fine. I just have to make a bigger dent in my place and then it will feel like it's coming right a long! Tomorrow is trash day on the Hill so tonight I will be throwing a lot of stuff out. And tomorrow night I can worry more on packing. See I am starting to feel better already. My good friend and fellow BAC associate is going to drive me home tonight so I can take some boxes from work. I am not about to tromp through the Commons or get a cab with 20 Staples boxes.
For those of you who voted.
QUESTION 1: would allow more grocery and convenience stores to sell wine.
I voted YES. enough said!
Chuck-town here I come!
Less than two weeks I'll be leaving the lovely neighborhood of Beacon Hill and moving to Charlestown with my guy. We have been looking on Craigslist.org for months for a perfect place. We found a wonderful house for rent but that didn't work out. But there was one little (not so little) place that we kept coming back to in our conversations. Finally we went back to check it out and by the time we walked out we had our first place together!
I spent the majority of the weekend going through my apartment and figuring out what I wanted to keep and what had to go. My mom came to town for the weekend so the second set of hands made it a bit easier. I sure am a pack rat! That is about to change, all the crap has to go!
It's getting late and I have a long week. My mom flies out of Logan at 6AM so we'll be up around 4AM. I hope to get a nice little workout in before heading off to work!
Sox anyone?
Wow, I love the Red Sox just as much as the next person...maybe more. But we're in the bottom of the 19th inning. But this is a bit much, and it's the last game before the All Star break. Brutal!
I downloaded two new ringers for my cell phone tonight. The first one is "All at Sea" by Jamie Cullem. I loved that song when it first came out and when ever I hear it I think about the summer. It's a good "chill" song. So that is set as my main ringer. And the second song I got was "Satellite" by Guster. I just love their new CD. I am lucky to have a boyfriend (Ryan) who works in the Music Industry and loves all music new and old. He has MADE me listen to a lot and I sure know a lit more. For the last month or so we have listened to the new Guster CD and it really stuck with me (both of us). A few weeks ago they played a private VIP show at the Tavern on the Water and I would say there were about 50 people there out on their deck right on the water, it was so awesome. I get all happy when I hear a song from that CD so I got "Satellite" and have it sent when Ry calls. He just called and I hated to answer it sounded so cool!
Italy won, the North End is again going to start on fire. The last time Italy won was the year I was born, no kidding huh?/! But I didn't get into it, I am not much on soccer. But the French didn't win so i'm happy!
Well my Sox just lost to the White Sox. 19 innings. Time total was 6 hr and 19min. That is a crappy way to go into the All Star break. Gesh! Good thing we don't have to play a series tomorrow.
I finally finished my Ocean Spray lite cranberry juice and I am off to read some of my trashy Cleb maggers in bed! Oh and I need to let my self-tanner dry.
Sleep tight!
:)
Welcome
I was never big into blogging. But then i found Peppy Cafe. Now i am unable to go any length of time without checking to see if E has updated her site! I have found so many other fun blogs through visiters to her site. And i thought it was only a matter of time until i got my own. So here it is guys!
