CUT THE SHIT

BREAKING NEWS: Traffic is snarled downtown as more suspicious objects have been found by police in various locations. State police bomb experts are now examining a suspicious item attached to the Longfellow Bridge. Traffic is backed up on Storrow Drive Eastbound before the Longfellow Bridge. That stretch of roadway had been closed but is now open. Meanwhile, Boston police are investigating suspicious items at Columbus and Stuart streets and near the New England Medical Center. Earlier today a device was found on the BU Bridge and on an underpass of I-93 North at Sullivan Station. So far no explosives have been found at any location, according to broadcast reports.

Nothing like a normal day in the city!

Catching up!

It seems blogging has taken a bit of a backseat the last few days. I've got a lot going on but didn't want another post-less day to go by. I have been keeping up on your blogs so keep the post coming!

Seems we have our date, place and location all set. It's a nice feeling. I think because we were so flexible with the date and time that we never really stressed about the BIG decision of where. We both knew what we ideally wanted for both ourselves and our lovely guest that when we found that and it was within our budget (well as much as anything can be when you're spending that much) we said let's just do it. With his sister getting married in the area next summer his parents had already done all of the research so we knew were weren't missing a "hidden jewel"!
I know there are going to be some things get a little uptight about but i have a feeling I'm going to take this all pretty well. I mean i have all the time in the world there's NO reason for me to get all crazy! HA, stamp this date and time and show it to me when I'm posting a bunch of crazy talk!
Now that the wedding post is out of the way.
A little drama in the city this morning. I-93 was shut down for a period of time this morning due to a suspicious object left under the underpass by Square T station. It worked out well for me as the buses were way to packed i ended up walking all the way to work. It's only about 3 miles but crossing the bridge with the wind off the Harbor is a bit much but I trucked it and feel great! I should keep it up, an extra 3 to 6 miles a day would do wonders plus my daily workout.
Speaking of working out, i have a few things to finish then it's off for my run and back to work!

Anybody have big Super Bowl plans this weekend? Sorry to those (including myself) ho are not thinking about it yet as I'm not over the fact we're not it in.

But I am thinking about the Red Sox. SPEAKING of Red Sox, did you all hear about our boy Theo? He and is odd looking gal pal tied the knot earlier this month. Check the gossip out here Hitch was in his plan. Music Guy made a good point, he's not Brad Pitt what's with the ultra secret plans. Guess as a GM they're use to keeping things from the media to ensure the deals don't get leaked and ruin a possible big hitter coming to Boston, believe me Theo no one was steeling her from you. But good for him, guess she didn't have a wedding blog!

Oh Kimba

If i had any idea i was about to get engaged i might have freshened up a tad, ha!

Rancho de Kimba

Don't ask...HA

We have great news on the reception it is 100% going to be the Hyannisport Club the date is a bit iffy but it will be in September 2008 kids.

We went down to the Cape early on Saturday and met with RoseAnn the event manager who is really great. Not pushy at all and pretty much said tell me what you want and it'll be done, from Wisconsin Cheese to a raw bar, yep that's is what I've come up with thus far! The place is wonderful even at 11am on a dark Saturday in January.

I am just waiting to hear back from her on a few details with the date, but other than that it's a done deal! I don't want to talk about how great it is as the place will speak for it's self when people arrive. But you can't help but gush over everything.

We also have thought about our save the dates and have some great ideas. Our goal for this whole wedding stuff is to do everything we can ourselves. And i mean EVERYTHING. I of course know there will be things we simply can not do but that's is it. The way our guest list is looking i better start cutting ribbon now! Ok S get your scissors out, you too fav couple A!

Not much other weekend news to report, Friday was too damn cold to go outside let alone do anything! Saturday evening was Kate's bday get together, nothing special just a good time hanging out. Sunday I cleaned our house like a mad woman, our place is so freaking dusty i mean twice a week type of dusting. Do you think it could be from our heaters? I mean we don't let anyone smoke inside, the windows sure aren't open, it's hardwood? For the love of God it's a pain in the butt to keep up. But luckily I'm not the only one in Rancho de Kimba that likes a clean casa. Oh yeah and the SAG awards, we watched those and made burritos on the grill, Yum-O!

Ok the "Rancho de Kimba" was said by Music Guy but didn't take off until I told S about it then we just ran with it. And goodness i think it is FUNNY. The Ranch of Kimba. Or something like that, i know nothing about Spanish so if it sounds good I'll take it!

Off to work and catch up on what you little guys did this weekend!

Friday Yoga

Howdy, well today i popped my yoga cherry... yes yes it's true i have NEVER done yoga before. I have always wanted to but never really took the step to try it. And you know what i loved it. I have a lot of learning to do but it was great!

We have a gym at work and once a week the offer yoga, big hugs to my girl Karen for her awesome yoga class. I can't wait until next week. 3 other guys i work with came with, it was pretty funny they made the whole class laugh at times, not what i picture yoga classes being like.
I know E over at PinkandGreenGirl has talked about hot yoga, is it really that good? I think I would die, but would LOVE to try it!

Not much else to report, it's freakin' freezin here in Bean-town. S is taking me to pick up my car in Beacon Hill. It has been parked there all month as I have yet to get a Charlestown resident sticker. But it is way to cold for my car to be sitting without being started for weeks. Good God i hope it starts. But that is why i have AAA.

Music Guy and I are heading down to the Cape tomorrow morning to meet with the Hyannisport Club event manager and then back home to celebrate our friend Kate's birthday! She be a fabulous time, if it warms up!

Not much else to report, like many other blogs i've read i am kind of having bloggers block. I'm blame it on my lame-o life right now and winter!

Any yoga tips?

Other weird things....

Since I've read all of your 6 weird things (5 if your Pink and Green Girl) it has made me think about other odd things I do!
So I've decided to update my little list!

Nothing bothers me more than putting together a cheese platter and having more crackers than cheese left over. I always like to have the exact amount of cheese and crackers. I don't sit and count out each one but i have a good idea of what is the right amount. If anything i would rather have extra cheese on the plate (hey I'm from America's Dairy Land)

Another big one is steak fat, i get so grossed out by the marbled fat on steaks i almost don't want to eat it at all. But knowing me i get over that fast and cut it off, but will spit (i know classy) out the piece if i notice it has fat on it.

On the subject of food, i am NOT a big salad dressing fan, I'd rather a dry salad than dressing mixed in it. You'd think it was for health reasons but nope, i just don't like the slippery feeling. If i do have a dressing I'll have it on the side and dip the end of my fork in the dressing, but i hardly even make a dent in it.

Is liking chilled Red Wine weird? :)

Oatmeal bowl

Ok so I have this soup/coffee bowl-mug and i had it soaking in the ladies room at work because i had oatmeal on Monday and it crusted and it was NOT going to get clean unless it soaked, so that's what i let it do.

I went into the bathroom today (i know i should have gotten it yesterday) and it was GONE. Can you believe someone stole my mug. I am so ticked. I don't know if I'm mad because my bowl is gone or I had nothing to put my oatmeal in. Regardless that is so rude, who takes other peoples items? Another good one is if you put your lunch/snack in the public work fridge and when you go to get it it is also missing? Unclassy and annoying.

So i leave you with this, have you had something from work or school taken that just didn't make sense? Or is it just a Northeast thing...

Who doesn't love flip flops

What's this you ask...This is a silver flip flop tray. Music Guy's sister got it as an engagement gift and I just had to share it with my preppy gals who love flip flops. This might be one type of flip flop I am NOT a fan of! I am not sure where it came from but I have seen it at The Flat of the Hill in Beacon Hill. It cost around $50 bucks...yikes!

Tagged!

I was tagged by Mrs. P at Preppy Chic Blog

6 weird things about Kimba:

1. I loathe taking showers, a perfect weekend would be to wear lounge clothes and not shower until Monday morning.

2. I always have conversations with myself out loud, i have often catch myself while out in public.

3. While sleeping at night I kick my legs around, and toss and turn. I need at least three pillows. I also need to have the covers wrapped under my feet.

4. When I replace the toilet paper i have to have the side you tear it off facing up. I have also been known to change it when i'm at other peoples houses.

5. When I was younger (1st grade) I tried to get my mom to change my name to "JC" (no meaning) because I hated "Kim" and "Kimberly". Now I love my name "Kimberly" but am not a fan of being called "Kim". (But do love Kimba)

6. I hate to read books but love to collect them.

Kicked in the face

Is how I felt with only seconds left on the Pats game last night. I do not want to listen to sports radio, read anything on like or even see sports coverage on the news. I am a sore loser and I am pissed....

Happy Monday ya'll!

A lot went on this weekend though I feel I do not have a lot to report back.

Monday night dinner was wonderful we had dinner at this cute little Italian place in Hyannis with Music Guys parents and their priest. He is one of the best people I have ever met, it was a lot of fun.
Rest of the time on the Cape was spent relaxing and just hanging out. Music Guy's sister and her fiancee where down on Saturday for the night. I could not get over how windy it was, this weather is crazy.

We went by the Hyannisport Club and I swear I almost lost it! It is so beautiful even in the middle of January. We saw some other places but I have a feeling this is going to be it! We both said we weren't going to look at anything else until we meet with the Event Manager next Saturday. Yes another trip down to the Cape. Boohoo! :) ha!

We watched the Pat's game at Music Guy's sisters place in Beacon Hill, I really don't miss the neighborhood as much as I should! But it was nice to be back, not that the last three Sunday's haven't been spent there! But we all know how that ended, grrr.

Kind of a slow blogging day for me, I have a lot of work to-do and I am very tired from last night.

After work I am heading to the gym then off to get groceries for the week and then home to relax and watch a little Prison Break and then 24...I can't wait. I love my weekly Monday dates with Jack!

Any 24 fans out there?

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Tooo cute!!!

HOW super Kimba is this??? Love it!

Oh do I love Fridays!!!

I don't have much blogging time but wanted to stop by to say HI!

Super busy day, I'm going to try to fit some gym time in, hopefully around 2ish. Back for another hour or so of work and then....it's off to the Cape for the weekend. We're having a very fun dinner tonight, I'll report on it Monday.

In the mean time you can check out a contender for the Kimba Music Guy wedding. Hyannisport Club

Red Fraggle meet lil Red Kimba

My S needs some chicken soup!

I hope you feel better Sara! This day is going to be SO SLOW without you. Now that I got that out of the way.

I don't' have to much to report, i have emailing back and forth with wedding and catering planners, they're all OVER me. Guess when they hear someone is planning summer 2008 they look at their books and throw the whole 9 yards at me to get me to secure my date with them. Which don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of, but i also would like to see what they all have to say when i price it all out. That's what really will secure my date!

I am still trying to get this site looking all preppy and cute, i am more just looking for a colored background, just a light blue or green or something. I'm banking my new blog friend S will hook me up! What else do you have to do today?

I'm sure I'll report something worth while later! :)

WARNING...another ETP post...

I have been meaning to post my new Engravers Monogram - pink text cards from ETP. They are super cute, i have already sent out a ton out and have gotten calls about how cute they are. I love the new tags Chloe has and behind it was a cute little package of message hearts, a great touch for this time of year!
See how super cute Chloe wraps them. Very yummy looking!

I took two wondering if the flash would be better in the second.

So yep, we're watching American Idol. I like the show when they have everyone picked and they start out with the top how many ever. The second chick they picked already is annoying me, yikes!

I have this super nuts ab video, i did it when i got home from work (while my turkey chili was simmering) i am going to be wicked sore tomorrow. Woohoo! Giddy up abs!

Another ETP classic

I contacted Chloe over at ETP to see if she would make custom engagement party invitations for Liane's wedding!
And did she ever! They of course look so much better without the info blacked out but i have to protect my girl ya know! I am so pleased with how every detail is perfect and exactly how I wanted it. But what was the best was Chloe sent me a few different styles, fonts and layouts and gave me her input to help me choose the perfect invitation. Hope they all love it as much as I do!

Ties

I am not sure if i'm going to go with pokla dots or a vv pattern, but i saw this today and thought it was very cute.

I love the light blue and navy. Hum...so many wonderful preppy things!

Welcome ALL THINGS SKETCHY!!!!

Or better known as one of my best friends Sara. I am very happy to have her join our world, I am always referring to all of your blogs and now I think it was time for her to join in!

HI SARA!!!

On another Kimba related note...I started to freak out last night when i realized that Desperate Housewives and the season premier of 24 were going to be on at the same time. But Music Guy assured me our DVR will do a swap so we'll be able to record both. Now that is a man looking out for his girl!

We are not going to watch the two hours of 24 tonight but watch them tomorrow night before the other 2 hour premier...4 hours of 24 is a great way to spend a day off!

Jack Bauer and I need to meet!

Super Stuffed French Bread Pizza Rustica

P-A-T-S PATS PATS PATS....

Happy Sunday, after sleeping in and going for a run we are making some French Bread Pizza. We saw the recipe on 30 Minute Meals, and it is going to be gooood! Thanks Rach!

We are heading over to Music Guy's sisters to watch the game, I sure hope the Pats win, but I don't have the best feeling about it. It's crappy and rainy here in Bean-town. So I thought it would be a wonderful idea to go for a run outside along the harbor, shit it was cold. Of course Music Guy went to the gym to run, smart if you ask me!

Below you'll see the French Bread recipe...Yum-O!
(Don't for get the EVOO) :)

Super Stuffed French Bread Pizza Rustica
1 (2 foot long) loaf French bread
1 pound sweet Italian sausage
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 small red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 large cloves garlic, chopped 1
package frozen chopped spinach defrosted and squeezed dry S
alt and pepper
1 1/2 cups part skim ricotta
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 pound sweet sopressata, from the deli, sliced thick, chopped
1/2 stick pepperoni, chopped
1 sack (10 ounces) shredded mozzarella
1 sack (10 ounces) shredded provolone
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Split bread lengthwise and hollow it out. Cut in half across, making 4 shells for pizzas.

Heat a skillet over medium high flame and brown sausage in extra-virgin olive oil. Brown and crumble sausage. Add red bell pepper, onion and garlic. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, add spinach. Remove mixture from heat and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper, to your taste.

Transfer to a bowl. Combine sausage and veggies with ricotta, Parmesan, sopressata and pepperoni. Fill bread shells and top with mounded mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Place in hot oven on cookie sheet and bake until cheese melts and bubbles and bread is super crisp, about 10 to 12 minutes. Top pizzas with oregano and hot pepper flakes. Serve immediately, or snack all night!

We did not use spinach, but did one veggie and one meat and veggie. I can't wait to have a little taste, our place smells like a big cooked sausage.

GO PATS!!!!

Red

I am sitting here getting ready to hit it (that's what we say when we're getting ready to go to bed) and I thought why not blog before a good nights sleep! I checked to see if any of my peeps checked out my blog and then for some reason thought hum...I'm going to see if E over at Pink and Green Girl has updated at all this weekend, and indeed she had! She had posted about Sesame Street and it got me thinking about what I watched as a young Kimba and I watched Fraggle Rock....And my family also would call me "Red" referring to Red Fraggle. So as any normal person would do I googled "Fraggle Rock Red" and found this is really why my family called me Red. I always thought it was because I had super Red hair and it was always styled in pigtails...oh no...it was a lot more than that... read and see.

Red - The Enthusiast

Red Fraggle is the kind of Fraggle someone watches and then says, "Now there's a really energetic Fraggle who knows where she's going and what she wants to do." And then, CRASH, Red runs right into a stalagmite. But that doesn't stop Red. It's certainly not her fault the stalagmite didn't know enough to move.

Moving is one thing Red never stops doing except maybe when she's asleep - but even then she keeps moving in her dreams. If she's not diving or running or sliding down the slide, she's balancing a racket or having an adventure or doing her job, which is cleaning the pool. Of all the things that Red does and does well(which, in here opinion, is just about everything) she likes swimming the best. Red's other bests in her life are Mokey, her best friend; Gobo, her best sparring partner; pigtails, her best hairstyle, and the Triple Sideways Over Under Back Twist, her best dive without holding her nose.

There you have it...Kimba a non stop energetic girl and then all of a sudden she smacks into something that shakes things up a tad but NOPE she just keeps on running (and or talking).

So yes after a 1am blogging session I have started to blog in the 3rd person!

Kimba (Red) out... :)

JCrew 25% got me again!

I finally picked out the dress I am going to wear to Music Guy's sisters engagement party, well hopefully! I am hope I like it. It is a final sale, though you can return it to the store and say you got it as a gift. That's for the tip Sara. Now that I am looking at it i'm not sure i'm a very big fan, we'll see!
A from Fav Couple came over last night to do a little wedding talk. It was a very fun time, nothing beats a little wedding talk and some Chardo, from Trader Joe's to be exact. Then B from Fav Couple made an appearance and gave us his two cents. They both are avid All Things Kimba readers, everyone wave HI to A & B!
Not much on tap for the long weekend. My girl Kate is coming over tonight to hangout. And then its all about waiting for the Pats game. Giddy up!

Only 2 of me

I got a forward today with a link to see how many people in the US have the same name as you do. And there are only 2 "Kimberly F" in the US, with myself included. Not bad! Thanks Mom!

http://howmanyofme.com

Music Guy on the other hand has a very popular name there are 3,111 people in the US that are named the same.

My mom is the only person in the US with her name! That's something!

How many of you are there out there?

Random Pictures

Here is a picture of Music Guy's soon to be brother in law. This was right after we got back from the beach!

This was one of the 20+ wedding mags Music Guy's sister gave me from her stash!

Here is a picture of me calling my grandma letting her know her fav granddaughter is GETTING MARRIED! :)

Mail Please Come...

I am expecting my English Tea order today. It's like Christmas when I see a package in my mailbox from VA. I am all about supporting people who start their own companies, especially preppy ones!

I was looking on line at different invitation sites and I said to Sara I feel like I'm cheating on Chloe if I get something somewhere else! HA.
Just like i HATE to buy headbands because I know I can make them myself. I'm nutty about stuff like that.

I need to get my nails done they are pretty bad. I haven't gone in almost 2 weeks, oh no. HA. I am so looking forward to the long weekend!

Speaking of stationary I am getting some cards at Tres Chic Designs

I have already asked my ladies but i thought this would be a cute touch to send them as a thank you for giving me the honor to have them stand up for me. Ya know something two of my gals read this blog so now they'll know! :) Oh well! Hope you like them guys!
