I had a wonderful weekend! More on the weekend later, this post is just about today.

Today in Charlestown was the Bunker Hill Road Race, I knew A & B would be running so I laced up my running shoes and set out in the pouring rain to check out the festivities and to try to locate them in the Navy Yard before they took off. Successful on both counts! I saw all of the Townies set up their chairs and reserve their spots on Main Street for the race and the parade and was able to wish A & B luck! I came back home quickly and showered (have never been so soaked) as I was walking out the door I saw Music Guy give B a high five! Bummed I missed him run by but MG was there and I screamed GO BILLY, to only realize I was only screaming to myself!

Coll picked me up and we headed North to attend a fabulous graduation party for the oh so fab Libby! Can I just please preface that if Coll and I ever plan to attend somewhere we've never been and we're together we absolutely under no circumstance will be able find the place on the first try. I'm just saying... We cruised the strip of Hampton Beach at 11:30am and of course had to stop for A) gas and B) help...decked out in white, pink, navy and pearls with a Lilly dress hanging in the back. We threw our Vineyard Vines totes in the backseat and went on our way (with directions of course). We knew we were on the right rode and felt pretty confident....we said lets look for the house with balloons and we'll know that has to be it. So we found the house with balloons and pulled over both thinking to ourselves hum....is this right? I looked at the gal in the front yard and she sure looked at me, i checked the address and well not the house...mind you we were pretty much parked and out the door (well I was). Back on route and only another few blocks we arrived at our destination. We were greeted by Libs and Devil Dog.... Best greeting ever if you ask me!

We had a wonderful time and was so tickled to be able to meet Libby's wonderful friends and family. We have a picture of us three that i'll post this week! (Thanks D!)

We headed back to Boston (found our way NO problem) and Coll dropped me off in Beacon Hill for our Father's Day celebration! It was a wonderful afternoon!

We're back home now and Charlestown is still rocking, these Townies are pretty crazy!!!

I'm ready for the Celtics this evening, but spending a good hour + running around town in the pouring rain it will be a struggle to stay up...BUT I know they'll take it tonight so I'm ready!!!!!!

Tough to take

Tim Russert was one of the biggest influences in American Political journalism. 

Every Sunday morning was spent watching Meet the Press in my house. This is one of the biggest elections our Country will ever see and it is so sad to know we'll be going through this without him.

Tim spent a lot of time in Boston as his son attended Boston College. We would see him all the time attending Sox games and he just moved his father into a retirement home here. So very sad. My heart goes out to his family who were in Italy continuing there vacation Tim had just returned from when they heard the news.

Chris Matthews said it best "We lost our quarterback tonight".

I sure hope Big Brown wins the Belmont today, I think it would be very good for the sport!

We're just about to head out on the boat and I'm very much looking forward to getting out on the water! We won't be down on the Cape for a few weeks so we have to soak it all up this weekend and what a great weather we're having!

I finally just picked out the tie for the wedding!

I have fallen in love with two only to days later have it taken off the site and to never be seen again. Now that I think about it i actually posted them each time I found them. Oh well here goes nothin'.....

Dog-a-palooza

(thanks Suz for the witty title!)

That is the best way to describe our new place. Now don't go thinking we bought a place where they had 15 cats that haven't been outside in 10 years. It's just that they had a black lab and well they shed. No big deal right, the place is very clean expect for some dust and dog hair in the fridge. Now why am i bring this up? Well i'm HIGHLY allergic to animals, I have a hard time riding in a car where a dog or cat has been. (Sara can concur) It's pretty shitty actually. So before we can do anything we have to get a cleaning service to come in and scrub the place from top to bottom. Now normally I would do this but when we were there on Tuesday I was having a tough time and thought there is no way i'm going to be able to clean up dog hair. So that's it, i'm paying to have someone clean an already clean house. Done and done.

In other news, I had a very nice lunch with Sara and she's going to take me home so i can give her 500 bridal magazines! (before MG throws them out) I'll take her to the new place and.....

this posted before i finished... but this is pretty much what i wanted to say! HA! I don't blog for a few weeks and this is what happens! :)

I hit my head just so in the shower last night (i bet down to turn off the water and moved to quickly). Things like this happen to me all the time so I didn't think much of it. I woke up in the middle of the night with a splitting headache and spent most of the day with that same pain. The weird thing is it was only in my left eye and temple. I "web md'd it" and the only thing I could come up with was an eye strain. Yes, that could be it, but I have never felt this type of pain before and it didn't go away with Advil. I wasn't on the computer at work as much as I normally am so I thought that would help, but it is now worse (i know i'm on the computer now). So needless to say i'm off to bed, but this is just so odd for me.

Tomorrow i'm going to be a great day!!! I have my weekly 8am leadership conference call but Kimba's working from home tomorrow so i'll be able to wake up and start working right away. We have our walk through in the morning and our closing in the afternoon!!!

Ok it's off to bed, i'm not feeling all to well.

Our Saturday

HOWDY!

I promise i'll be back more often, i've missed you all tons!!

Let me quickly recap and fill you in on our Saturday thus far and what is to come.

Today was Pre-Cana at the Paulist Center in Boston, Wikipedia definition below:
Pre-Cana is a course or consultation Catholic couples must undergo before they can be married in a Catholic church. The name is derived from John 2:1-12, the wedding feast at Cana in Galilee, where Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine.
Approaches to Pre-Cana vary among Catholic parishes. Often six weekly sessions will be led by a priest or deacon with support from a married Catholic couple. Common topic include: compatibility of the couple, basic principles of Catholic marriage and family life, conflict resolution within marriage, and natural family planning.

Let me tell you I am damn lucky Music Guys is also Catholic or I would never hear the last of how i dragged him to this. We did the fast version an all day "class". Let me tell you how serious MG took it...One of the questions in our "fighting fair" piece was "How do you and your future spouse resolve arguments" he answered arm wrestle. Lovely!

We got some bad looks from others as we're sitting there laughing at what each other put. They had about 15 different topics with questions and every one of them was taken with that seriousness. The people behind us were really into it and I think we annoyed them. There was a booklet in our packet called "Together for life" and we looked at each other and said Together for "now". And that was within the first 10 minutes so I think everyone around us knew what they getting into sitting next to us. It was a joke, my goodness people, you have to be able to laugh at yourself. But I think that might have pushed it.

It was not as bad as I had thought it would be, I actually enjoyed it! They had a couple come up and do mock vows and when the girl was saying them she started to get choked up. It was so cute, and then of course I start to tear up. I'm going to LOSE IT when we're up there, I always do. I look over at MG and he's looking at me like i'm crazy, he'll be worse then me, I know it!

You would think that's enough for one day right? Oh no, there's more!

I'm about to get ready as my boss is hosting a party this evening at his house for all of his direct reports and their spouses. Yep people you got it, party at my bosses! I'm looking forward to it, but i'm not sure about my other half. He'll enjoy himself, i know he will! Only thing that is a real bummer is some friends of ours are having a very sweet party and we're going to miss it. We did say we might stop by after, but I don't think that will happen. Oh well!

Off to put on my party pants! GREAT to be back!!!!

I just got home and i'm back online to finish up some work...

We had a great vaca and i'm waiting for JJ to send me her pictures as we did not take any. I had a great time and it was very relaxing. I only checked my blackberry a few times a day which was good for what I had going on at work.

I haven't posted about this yet because i'm nervous as heck about this BUT we're buying our first place! We close on April 15th and are SO happy!!! This weekend will be all about throwing away (my) stuff we don't need/use/ever uppacked to begin with.

Giddy up! The Kimba Music Guy household is stoked! We are trying to get our Save the Dates out (less the 6 months i know) but we've been trying but our printing place is not playing along.

Holiday

Gone Fishin' (we really will be fishing!!!)

We're heading to Florida tomorrow, very much looking forward to this time away! I have not had a vacation since we went to Nantucket last September.

The weather doesn't look promising but with the rain it still said 80 and i'm happy!

I know i've been a REALLY bad blogger and that is something i'm not happy about. Thank you all for your birthday wishes, you are the best.

I'm finally home but i'm still working, about to start to pack and try to relax before our early AM flight.

My girl Sara shocked me yesterday when these beautiful flowers were delivered to me at work. I just love her dearly but is too much!

Saturday:

I got flowers this morning from my father and when we got back this afternoon there was a bouquet waiting for me on the steps from Music Guy's parents.

It has been such a wonderful day thus far! And we're just getting ready to head over to J & G's before we go to dinner!

You'd think....

Seeing this picture would make me very happy that Sox season is upon us. But for the last month I have not been able to give any of my time to sports. You would also think that has to do with my new job or social life. But no it does not. The reason is I'm still upset about the Pats and I can't commit right now. I will in say two weeks things will change but it's a sad day if a picture of Mikey Lowell doesn't put a smile on my face that the Sox are starting soon!

Welcome Baby Shear

My girl Hill and Torin welcomed their baby girl Stella Faye Shear into the world yesterday morning!!!

I can't wait to meet her! I've seen one picture and it just melts my heart!

If I'm getting this chocked up over Stella I'm going to be a baby (no pun) when A and B of fave couples little guy arrives next month. Watch out ladies!

We saw our friends baby girl Ashely this weekend she is so cute and so sweet. Lots O' babies and kiddies in our life, we're very lucky!

I'm home now but doing work so i better get back to it! (yes, it's 7:15).

Workin' and babies

NOT working on....

I've been on-line for a good 6 hours doing work on and off. This is the first weekend I've been able to hook up my work laptop from home. And I'm getting good use out of it. I am so happy as I brought a ton of work home that if I got done this weekend it will really help me this week.

Tomorrow morning the sweetest friend of mine Hillary, will be giving birth to her first child (baby girl!).

Can't wait to to get Torin's email tomorrow and finally find out what our little "Shirl's" name actually is! Oh and that she will finally be welcomed into their world.

Spring Cleaning

We're all lucky here in the Commonwealth as it is 55+ outside and most of us have the day off (hopefully)! 

So what are we doing in Chez Kimba, spring cleaning of course. We currently have 4 big black bags full of "trash". A lot of the stuff we're throwing away are things we moved here, and if we're going to move again we are NOT moving this stuff again. I'm a bit of a pack rat. So much so in one rubbermaid bucket I found a math notebook from 1996. That's right, my freshman year of high school. So that means I moved it from Wisconsin to three apartments in Mass to Charlestown. That will stay between you and me, ok!

So that brings me to wonder what things have you found when moving you couldn't get over you kept (or would not want to admit you've kept)? 

By the way, I have the windows open, if i didn't already wish for spring, this does not help!

Tuesday email

Hill and I were emailing today about her shower this weekend! She has never meet Music Guy before so here is a little part of an email we had today. Pretty funny if you ask me!

“Um, also, can we please discuss how AWESOME your fiancé is????  LOVE HIM.  Torin loves him too, it’s cute :).  He’s like dude, Ryan was AWESOME, I totally want to hang out with him again.  Loved it.  Not that I thought you would be marrying a douche of course, but it was lovely to finally meet him and hang out with him :).”

Here you have it! I'm not marrying a douche!!! I could have told you that, but having Hill say it really makes me laugh!

HOWDY!

All is well at chez Kimba, over the top busy but doing well!

It hasn't entirely been all work and no play, i've had a little fun this week. 

Work is going really well, i'm super happy but don't get me wrong i'm wiped and stressed 24/7 but I know that'll change. I give all of you working moms so much credit, I have no idea how you do it.  

Friday evening I got home from work at 7:15 (mind you it takes 15 min to get home) and Music Guy's parents were due to arrive any minute, i've never felt like a worst host. But hey it's family and we were going out to dinner so it was fine, you know that feeling right? We had dinner at Paolo's in Charlestown and it was yummy! I had Scallops Risotto and some great Pinot Grigio. Though dinner was wonderful I realized I guess i'm not as big of a scallops fan as I thought i was. I am one of those people who order the most terrible things when we go out to eat. I have a thing going with MG that if I order something he thinks I won't like he can't let me order it. I've been saved by that before, but Scallops sounds safe so I thought. Anyone would have loved the dish.

Saturday we worked out and picked up a baby gift for a couples baby shower we were going to that afternoon. I know what you're thinking a couples sower for a baby, poor Music Guy. But not so fast, it was for a gal I work with and there is a group of us that are all around the same age (of course once again I was the youngest) so it really was a party. I hope to post pictures, they had some really cute v-day details. And like any normal baby shower they had a full bar and packed cooler. It was a pink and red theme and I would say I was the most pink decked out one of the group. Shocked I'm sure. Music Guy had a ball and so happy to finally meet the crew I always talk about. And they were happy to know I really did have a husband to be, guess I need to get out with them more. We came home and made a great dinner, steaks and tater tots. Dude, most underrated side on earth, oh yeah and veggies.  

Today we went to breakfast with MG's parents and then we all went to look at some open houses. Eight to be exact. It rained, snowed and hailed all during our trek around Charlestown. We saw one we really liked, I'm about to do some research on the street and the deeds on the place. It's not in our ideal location, but knowing the area street by street doesn't hurt. Let me poke myself in the eye first. 

This week will be even crazier than the last, but hey I signed up for it! 

Boring post I know. I need to find a work/life balance and when that happens I'll have more "fun" things to talk about!

I'm not going to lie I'm not a fan of phone calls first thing in the morning. Not for any other reason then I'm sure the next person would say.

But this morning was different.

I got a call at 7:14am from none other then the ohh so lovely Sara and one would think right off the bat that she was calling to tell me they got engaged (which is what I frist thought) and then I was like oh god she has a really good story for me that can't wait. Well both of which are true! My Sara is tying the knot to her oh so wonderful guy Ben! He's a gem and she is just out of this world fab so in my eyes it's a great match!

Make sure you head on over and keep up on her wedding idea's Lord know she has some great ones!

Congrats hun, i'm going to be with you everystep of the way like you are with me!

7:42am: Woke up

7:56am: Sorelle's for a latte

8:10am: gym

9:38am: leave gym head to Target

10:25am: check out at Target and laugh to the cashier about how I can't believe I spent under     $50. With absolutely NO reaction. Whatever, you guys would have laughed.

10:33am: drive across the parking lot to Costco and pray this does not take too long

11:00am: thankful I was in and out, off to spend over $50 on gas (still not "full")

11:14am: head to carwash to make Music Guy proud I washed the Jeep all by myself

11:30am: swear at myself for washing the Jeep as now I'm soaking wet (we're not able to go         through the "real" wash so I have to do it myself) 

11:35am: off to Cambridgeside Galleria to return a dress at JCrew 

12:00pm Starbucks second latte of the day

12:30pm Johnny Foodmasters for the final touches to our Super Bowl "party" (along with every other person in Charlestown)

1:15pm back home to clean, shower, start cooking and wait for my partner in crime to get home from NYC

2:33pm MG home!!!!!!

2:34am clean, cook, chop, clean, cook, cut...Miller time?

Super Saturday

I'm checking in to let you know my first day went very well, so well I’m writing this post from work! Ok it's not that bad! Music Guy and his buddies headed to NYC this morning to visit our buddy Kinger. Why I wasn't invited to ride along so I could visit Suz I don't know, men!


I have a pretty good weekend on tap if I do say so myself! A, J and Kateson are headed to see 27 Dresses. It seems most of you who have seen it have really liked it; I also know one of you out there did not like it. I know it'll be "cute" and it's a good girly movie when the boys are away. I'm about to head to the gym and then to do our Super Bowl shopping!!! J & G are coming over to watch the game and I'm in charge of putting the menu together (per Music Guy) he also said he'll be home in time to do damage control! What’s that suppose to mean! :) So I’m thinking I’ll head to Costco, can’t go wrong right? J & G are taking care of the main course so the rest is up to Kimba! Giddy up!

What to do

So I'm about to pack up my stuff and well I have an issue. I have the Pats and Celtics schedules up on my board and I do not want to take them down because the seasons have been going so well. I kept the Sox schedule up until after the World Series HOW'D THAT WORK OUT FOR ME!!!!!

I sure hope the person who replaces me is a C's fan!

Yesterday they threw a suprise lunch for me at Silvertones! And of course it involved a roast and props. A funny line I thought you'd get a kick out of was "If Kimberly is not wearing pearls you know it’s not going to be a good day”. Funny funny people aren't they.

I'm starting to go through my desk and i've found two bottles of self tanner. I can't even explain that one!

I hope to report back later! Gosh this is sad.

Shrinkage

If you see the picture below my ring is hanging out in an unsafe place on my finger. It is not secure whatsoever. So here's my question: what products have you seen to make it more snug.

You might ask "why don't I get it resized" well here's the thing in the cold weather my hands shrink beyond belief, so I need a "fix" for now.

Any thoughts?
On Christmas Day I was in Mass and while reaching for the Bible my ring flew off and landed two rows in front of me. Thank God (pun intended) I was at Church and not on the street. Of course while everyone else is praying i'm crawling on the floor. Now do you see why I need the help!

And before each practice I would help them warm up, the best was when I would take them to golf. I would get myself a few buckets of balls and spend an hour and a half at the driving range. All the while I was getting paid.

Did you know?

We watched part of Edward Scissorhands this weekend and Winona Ryder's name in the movie is "Kim", her boyfriend in the movie kept calling her "Kimba". I had no idea, funny random thought if you ask me.

We went to the Cape Saturday to look for our rehearsal dinner place and we found exactly what we wanted. Our whole thing for the weekend is to keep everything close. And to have our guest run into each other on the street.  We also stopped at the hotel and they are completely redoing the whole place. It was a bit tired looking and needed to be updated. The funny thing is it is the same hotel Music Guy's sister used so when the guest go back it'll be like a whole new place. 

I'll post details about the rehearsal this week. 

Is it tacky to have two something blue? I have two thoughts and I think I want to do them both. I really need to get my flower ideas in order stat.  

Last week at my current position, early mornings and late evenings here I come! 

I hope you're having a great weekend! I love how we were suppose to get "flurry's" it's a lot more than flurry's if you ask me!

A tad early for this....

I got up early this morning and did a Tae Bo DVD, it was part of a Yankee swap gift last year. I have a feeling come noon I will not be able to lift my arm above my head. I'm planning on doing some cardio after work tonight as I didn't do the full DVD. I'm not sure I'm going to break this one back out anytime soon. I'd rather listen to the annoying ladies on Buff Brides. Well let me rethink that.

I'm meeting with the lady I am replacing today to go over some things. And then later I have a meeting to discuss the type of replacement for me. That should be fun!

Music Guy found a condo online that we're both a fan of. How could this place not be perfect, they had a lighthouse in the bedroom and a barn star in the kitchen. Only difference is I have 15 barn stars around the house and 300 lighthouses. Now that Music Guy sees how other people decorate with the same decor I think some will be missing when I get home this evening.

Gouda Football

We watched the Patriots game over at J & G's and we brought this wonderful oozing bundle of joy.

Crescent-Wrapped Gouda

Crescent-Wrapped Gouda Ingredients
7 ounces round natural Gouda cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 8 oz. can crescent dinner rolls


Instructions for Crescent-Wrapped GoudaHeat oven to 350 degrees. Cut cheese round in half crosswise to form 2 circles; remove from wax. Separate dough into 4 rectangles; firmly press perforations to seal. Place one rectangle on top of a second; repeat with remaining rectangles, making two double-thick rectangles. Press each into a 6-inch square; place cheese circle in center of each. Pull corners of dough to top center of cheese. Press dough tightly against cheese. Twist dough in center to seal, twisting off excess dough. Press seams to seal. Repeat to make second gouda wrap. Press out excess dough. With canape cutter or paring knife, cut out decorative shapes; place on top of each gouda wrap. Brush with beaten egg. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 mintues before serving.


Summing it all up, I took the Crescent and wrapped it around the gouda and put it in the oven until it started to brown and ooze. I did not use an egg, but I'm sure it adds more to the crust.

Just cut with a knife and dig in. Some people like to use crackers, but i don't see the need with the crust as a "holder"!

We had a very nice weekend. Friday we stayed in and rented Superbad and I was fast asleep by 10pm. Saturday we went to the gym and then ran around to Costco, Target, Best Buy and two Circuit Cities. Why you may ask, Music Guy talked me into buying a new TV. Which really was needed. The TV we had was one I got when I was a Sophomore in High School. I really do think it out weights me. This is the best time of year to buy one as the Super Bowl is coming and they drop the prices and they go back up the Monday after.

Speaking of Super Bowl, Lets Go Pats! It was a fun game to watch with a group of fun people. What was not so fun, the game after. My poor Packers, not even "poor" I'm a bit use to seeing Brett Favre throwing an interception in a big game. It sucked and I was not happy.

Sorry for the lack of post, with everything going on last week and just the stress I've put on myself when the weekend came I had no energy to be creative. I'll kick that!

Wow what a week. I am looking forward to a long weekend! A week filled with interviews and me and my new boss on our blackberries counter offering with a recruiter while in the same meeting knowing what each of you are up too. Typical week.

So yep, I GOT IT!!!

Now it's on to find someone to replace me. Is it possible? HA!

Tuesday update

Thank you for your sweet comments! It's a fun and stressful time for me and it helps to know you all are here for a little (lot) support!

I really will have a recap soon, things have been a tad busy the last week.

I am going for a new job at work and had my interview today and meet with another person tomorrow morning. The interview was suppose to be yesterday morning but with all the snow it was pushed back. It obviously was a good thing as I was able to have more time to prepare but that also means I have more time to stress. It went very well today we'll just see how tomorrow goes!

Times like this...

I absolutely love living in the city. I went for a run this morning through the Navy Yard (while listening to The Samples) as it is unseasonably warm on the East Coast. I knew come tomorrow morning it would be back to the 30's, It was wonderful while it lasted! It looks like it will turn out to be a nice weekend. By nice I mean 40's and dry.

I was able to go to the gym after work and get some weight training in and walked home. So of course I am unable to lift my arm! Not too bad, but enough to remind myself even though it doesn't hurt while I'm doing it doesn't mean I should tack on 20lbs just because! Or does it?

I wish I had more to write about, next week i'll have full weekend and party recaps.

BTW, I started this at 1:40pm.

Feels like my birthday outside....

But no it's not The Ides of March it's only January 8th. It was nice getting up this morning and heading to the gym having the Jeep say 50 degrees. Speaking of the gym we went after work last night and it was so packed people were standing behind machines waiting for them to finish. Hey sorry if I sweat on you, but you're a tad close for my liking. I know it's the first of the year and they finally opened on Saturday morning but I can't wait for the novelty to wear off. Once a few weeks go by and people give up on their New Years Resolution I'm hoping it'll get back to normal.

I've had a few funky dreams the last few nights about Nantucket. Reading Sarah's post yesterday made me laugh out loud and remember my own dream. I was going to post about it yesterday but figured it wasn't all that exciting to anyone but myself, 9 times out of 10 those are my normal post! So here it goes: Sunday I had a dream I lived on Nantucket and communed to the city by the Commuter Rail. Now those of you who live in the area are familiar that the Commuter Rail picks you up in Plymouth. But no see in my dream I took the train from the Straight Wharf, that's right no Hy-Line the train. I think it was because before I fell asleep I watched the episode of Sex and the City when Carrie goes to San Fran for her book tour via train. I do not have a fear of flying, trains, cars or boats. But it was just very odd. Last nights dream was even weirder. We were still on Nantucket (not sure if i took the train there from the city) and we had to go to the store so we all piled in Jeeps and went to the top of a waterfall (which I've yet to find on ACK) and took a raft down the waterfall to the Stop and shop. Couldn't tell you what happened after that as it was time to get up. I told Music Guy about my two dreams and he so nicely sported one of his Nantucket Permit t-shirts in my honor to the gym.

Not that exciting, just odd! I'm over my head in work work work. That and I'm hoping to hit my work gym at around 4:30ish to do weights. Wish me luck! ha!

Also, I think i've just booked our DJ. As most of you could figure out the music is a big thing and we never found a band we loved. If we were going to have a band it would have had to be Martin Sexton and I think we found out that was about 10k. So a DJ it is!

Did you really have to up your prices on ties? Really, really did you? I think $65 was a good price but now they are $75. I already was on the fence with using you for our groomsmen ties and I think raising the price seals the deal. Do you even understand the reaction I get when I tell people I might not use you. I might be over thinking this and maybe an extra $200 or so might not seem like much when we're spending so much to begin with. But listen we have to buy 13 ties. Do the math that's a lot. 

Just think about it, i've been with you from the beginning and have made you a lot of money when I trot around town using one of my zillion totes. And the lovely men in my life have a nice supply of your ties (at $65). I won't even get into the clothing I own.

Recipes

We decided that on Friday night we'll have the people who are coming into town over for a little get together. I can't be in more than one place at a time so we'll bring them to me! Good idea?

So here's my question what should I make and of course what should I wear?

I think we'll do something in the crock pot, maybe meatballs for sandwiches or chili and they can eat whenever. Maybe a taco dip, (personal favorite so that's a must) but I need some ideas. I've been googling for recipes and thought this was a better way to find some! 

Tomorrow is suppose to be 50, I'm all over that! 

We looked at a few open houses today we are in love with this one. If you look at the night time roof deck picture you can see they have lights on railing. How cool is that. It doesn't really have a "view" but heck we're not in Beacon Hill anymore. It's Music Guy's perfect place, the style is pretty modern and that's him, not me, but I'm a fan! The couple who own it finished the renovations and got transferred to Seattle all in the same month. There is a condo for sale right next to were we live, when I say next to us I mean we look at it daily. We loved it in pictures and thought this is the perfect place to buy. We went to the open house last weekend and completely hated it. It has a private roof deck and we thought it was pretty sweet but when we went up there it sucked. Do you see a common theme here outdoor space is a MUST! When we were moving in together we looked at about 50 apartments before we (I) found this one with a deck! We kept telling the broker we have to have outdoor space and he kept showing us ones without and finally I had to drop him. Annoying.

Red, white and navy???

I had to return something at Target and end up getting these shoes to wear next weekend. I didn't have any "winter" shoes to wear with navy and these have a low heel so they're perfect. I got home to show Music Guy and it occurred to me i'm going to look like the American Flag! Navy dress, white sweater and red shoes. I'm too much even for myself sometimes!

Happy weekend! We had a busy busy day and now Music Guy's sister J and her hubby G are on there way over to watch the Steelers game.

I forgot to add this below. This morning I went to Starbucks to get a Venti Latte and there was a homeless man who was standing outside next to a vent blowing out warm air. This kind of pulled at my heart, soon enough I'd be in my cozy office enjoying a $4.15 latte. I've seen this guy a few times and he doesn't sit and beg or holler at anyone he just sits there. I got him a coffee and set it down next to him not two seconds later some jackass in his big suit kicked it with his foot. Sure he might not have meant to, but the guy kind of laughed. I looked at him with this f you look and shook my head. The lid did not come off so not much spilled but that's not the point. The homeless guy looked at me and smiled and I went on my way.

This is not something I've ever done, it was just something about seeing him on the second coldest day we've had.

I was about to post a not so nice message to you as I ordered a sweater last week while you offered your 20% off and free shipping and never got a conformation email it shipped. Normally I would be ok with it as it was a simple white cardigan and really you can find them anywhere. The issues would have been I wanted this exact one,


as I'm wearing my navy Lyndsey dress. Get it white and navy...my colors. (yes people I am "that" bride who is going to sport her wedding colors to her wedding related get together)



While tapping away at my desk the lovely mail lady came and delivered my sweater. No conformation email just the package and while I was starting to wonder if you stood me up, you found the right time to come through. So thanks! And thanks to J for the JCrew gift card and thank you to Preppy Sue for the free shipping code. Such a group effort for one simple white sweater.

Now that I got that out of the way.

Big fan of this week being over, coming back on Wednesday threw me for a loop. Not much planned for the weekend and by that I mean I didn't plan anything because I have so much I need to get done before next weekend. I have my family coming in Thursday, my MOH Liane and her fiance are coming in Friday. I can't wait, she has never been to Boston and it'll be nice to finally be able to show her where I've been for the last 6 years.

Saturday we have to finish up our registry and we have lunch plans. Our gym is suppose to be open so that's a must. Also Saturday there is a surprise 30th birthday party for a friend of ours we might attend. How's that for no plans, I'm doomed! :)

I'm about to book our trolley for the wedding party, it was really the only why we could all travel together and enjoy ourselves. It will be used from the church to the beach for pictures and then to the club. I'm wondering if it's worth it, $1000 bucks for that. I guess I need a little more time to think about it. Thoughts?

Happy Happy New Year....

Just getting back into the swing of things. The nice thing about the work week is it is already Wednesday! Glass is going to always be half full this year, not that it really ever isn't.

Our gym moved across the street from where it was and is completely new. Music Guy took a tour on Saturday and said it is really nice. All of the cardio equipment has their own TV's and everything is brand spankin' new!!! Down side, they're not open yet and the old one is closed. I called today and they said they're hoping to open tomorrow or Friday. That's helpful, which is it? Good thing I'm also a member of the gym at work but that doesn't help the other party in the house who belongs. Heaven forbid I get up at 5am to workout and they're closed. HA!

Biggest Loser Couples started last night, I don't think it will be as popular as the singles. I could be wrong it is a good time of year for a weight loss show. But all of the extra baggage that comes with them is a bit annoying. It also was the first show and it'll take some time for them to get use to working out and being away from home. We shall see! Also SVU was a good one!

What a crazy Capital One Bowl, I won't get all cocky about it as I know NMB is a Gator. I'll just say GO BLUE!!!

Wisconsin lost and Michigan won not exactly how I wanted it to turn out but at least one of our beloved teams won their bowl game.

We went to the Warren Tavern for lunch and spent a good part of the day taking our Christmas decorations down and cleaning up. It was nice not to have to go anywhere as the weather this afternoon was simply annoying. Rain...snow...rain...snow. Annoying doesn't really sum it up. 

We had a very nice New Year's Eve! I forgot how much I missed living in Beacon Hill and being so close to everything. The Liberty Hotel was really nice, super trendy but nice. I was surprised as it was a little too posh for Beacon Hill it's like a nightclub. If you're in the area I'd definitely check it out. 

Hope your team won their bowl, it's a fun time of year in College football!

Dear Pats,

Music Guy and I like most of New England have spent the last 16+ weeks glued to our TV watching every play and in the last few weeks I have been close to a heart banger. But after Saturday night's game I'm more than ready for the playoffs!

This brings me to why I'm writing. Your next playoff game is scheduled for January 12th at 8pm. That would be all fine and good normally but see I have had that date reserved for months. You see we're having an engagement party at 7pm that evening and 99.9% of the attendees are Pats fans. You see where the issues is? Music Guy already told me if it wasn't his party he wouldn't go. So talk it over and let me know what time to plan for the game on Sunday!

That's right ladies the first Pats playoff game is set for the night of our engagement party. Which is awesome  as every Pats game we spend yelling, cheering and giving high fives.

I called the restaurant and the Wine Cellar and Lounge we have reserved does not have TV's but the bar downstairs next to it does. Which leads me to my next questions, would it be rude to skip out at 8pm and watch the game? Alright I'm not going to stress about it as there is nothing I can do. Unless Bob Kraft reads my letter and has a talk with Roger Goodell and they move the game to Sunday.

Music Guy did not work from home today but did come home early so we're relaxing and planning out our evening. A friend of ours is having a party at his apartment in Beacon Hill, he has a roof deck that you can see the fireworks from the Boston Commons so that will be neat. I think we're going to head over early and get a drink at the new Liberty Hotel. We've been waiting to since it opened so what a better time than New Year's Eve (famous last words, i think i'll be crowded and we'll end up at the Sevens). The hotel use to be a jail and the lounge is call Clink how fun is that. Similar to the famous hotel chain Jurys bar Cuffs.

I simply love Randy Moss' press conferences he has some good one liners!

What a football game last night, a tad stressful but good. The couple below us came up and watched the end of the game with us. After the game we were all chatting and out of the blue S tells me she got a boob job. WHOA Did you just say what I think you did. I felt bad I hadn't noticed. Of course after that bit of info I had to interrupt the guys conversation to tell Music Guy the news. She said it took about a week to recover and her boyfriend also had to take the week off of work to help her while she was out of commission. She said she'd give me the number of her doctor if I ever wanted to think about it. And for only 8k! Thanks but that 8k can go towards entertainment for my wedding. It was a good chuckle. The things that happen right under my nose I have no idea about. The gal I talk to regularly and who we share washer and dryers with (even though they're not suppose to use ours) just got a boob job. So of course she's been the brunt of our jokes today. 

Also if any of you saw the beginning of the Pats coverage or know anything about Tedy Bruschi he always does the team pep talk and it's pretty good. If you check out this clip of last nights you'll see what I'm saying. So that's another common joke around these parts. This morning when I woke up Music Guy was in the kitchen making coffee so I sent him a text message from upstairs "How do you feel about making me breakfast...Ahhhhh Yeah" It really was pretty funny. Libby can back me up! 

I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for the New Year!!! I took tomorrow off and I'm very much looking forward to not being back in the office until Wednesday! If we get all the snow we're suppose to Music Guy is going to work from home. Which would be great!

Ho Ho Ho

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! We were watching the Today Show on Christmas Eve and they were talk about New Years resolutions, don't get me wrong I am ALL for resolutions but...NBC just blew past Christmas right into the New Year. I guess I need to catch up with the times. No pun.

I saw the neatest Boutonniere's the other day. I wish I could have saved the picture to post, but i'll try to explain. It was a single flower (white rose for my guys) with a blue ribbon wrapped around half of the steam and attached was a tiny starfish pin. Similar to the one below but it had a little bit of a softer look. I've been searching high and low and have only come up with this one from Lapel Pin Planet. I'm not going to lie the name kind of sleeves me out for some reason. I loved the idea and if I find pins I like i'm going to see how it looks with a navy (or light blue) ribbon on a rose. (I did however find one pin I loved, only $2,000, what a steal! 10 boutonniere's times $2,000 = $20,000)

That's pretty much it for now!

I'm working this week and today was surprisingly busy. It does make the day go quick but damn it people take some vacation already! Oh did I mention I'm losing 9 days of vacation I didn't use this year! Asshat.

One year ago

Last Christmas Eve we headed down to the beach and got engaged! If you click on the link and scroll down there are a few pix.

We're about to take a little trip back down memory lane and go back to the spot!!! The nice thing is when we come home we won't be making 500 phone calls! :)

Reason 983748762 why I am a very big fan of living and working in the city. We had our holiday party yesterday afternoon at the 21st Amendment in Beacon Hill (or as we like to call it 21A, pronounced two one A or 21A). When I plan things it has to be something I like so going to one of my all time favorite places is what I did! Chalk that up to the name of my blog, ATK! Ok sorry back to my point...I left the office around 1:45 and walked to Haymarket took the Orange Line to Community College a 10 minute walk and I was home. I'd say it took me around 25 minutes. The second shortest commute was 3 and a half hours. Needless to say when emails here flying around this morning about the crappy commute I kept to myself. My poor boss sat inside the 93 tunnle for and hour and a half. I would go nuts.

Nothing too big planned for tomorrow!!!!!!! I can't wait! No really...I can't!

Christmas Cheer

I snapped a few pictures with Music Guy's iPhone last night so the quality is not perfect but pretty good for a phone.

The first is a wooden buoy with the airport code for Nantucket on it (duah Kimba) I also have one for every "bigger" town on the cape. HYN, YAR, FAL, PRT, CC. I picked them up a few years ago at The Christmas Tree Shop. They were not meant to be ornaments but I bought everyone that had and have been using them as so since. Last year I attached the FAL to a gift I got my old boss who has a second home in Falmouth. Needless to say his wife simply loved it.
You can't see the Pats one as well, stupid iPhone camera. But you do get a look at the CC buoy.

Tomorrow we have our work team lunch aka holiday lunch. We can't call it a holiday anything or the company will not pick it up the tab. It's always a good time good food and lots o drinks flowing, mind you it's starting at noon. We do the typical Yankee Swap and only a few actually get something nice for the $20 limit. Most of the time it's items regifted, but it's all its suppose to be fun so you can't get to bent out of shape. I put together the lunch so I'm a little stressed out today with the final details. But as long as when we arrive there drinks on the way no one really will mind.

Anyone have any fun holiday parties coming up this weekend?

Meet our Tree....

Here is a picture of our tree when we brought it in the house. Please remember we have already cut the twine holding it together. Now that is one frozen tree!!!

After watering it with lukewarm water and spraying water on it through out the day and evening here is the finished product. It was still a little frozen but we couldn't wait any longer to decorate it!

I will take a few pictures of my favorite ornament and post. I don't have very many but I do have a few good ones that mean something to me. Like the mini Dunkin Donut coffee cup! You've all seen those, right?/!

What a great Pats game! My Sox love goes to Mike Lowell but if I have to pick a Pat to cheer for...of course I'm going to have to pick my boy Wes Welker! How on earth can you go to him 5 plays in a row and not catch on!

Christmas Meme

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Hot chocolate as I've never had Egg nog, maybe i'll change that this year. Next week at Starbucks i'll switch it up and check back!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
He wraps them. He starts out loving the idea and quickly remembers he's not a big fan nor very good.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White lights on the tree candles in the windows. My mom did this when I was growing and we do it now.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Nope. Do most people?

5. When do you put your decorations up?
If it were up to me i'd put them up right after the first turkey sandwich! But the weekend after Thanksgiving is good enough for me!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
I don't think I have one. Maybe ham but that's not really a "dish".

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
I have two good ones:
When I was young we'd spend a few days at my aunts 4 hours away from our house. She had a dog and I couldn't spend the night so we had to stay in a hotel (WITH A POOL!)! It got to be a tradition and we would rent out rooms and moved the party to the hotel.

On Christmas Eve my mom would let us open one present. I opened a Barbie that you could do her hair (it was like a head) and my brother opened a package of socks. My mom then let him open another one he could "play" with and I freaked out that he got to open two! Brother sister love!

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Not sure. I have a feeling my brother spoiled it for me :)!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Just one...

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
With random ornaments and white lights. I will post a few pictures of my favorites. This year we are starting the traditional one new ornament a year! I'm looking forward to what we find this year.

11. Snow: love it or hate it?
I don't mind show, I loathe ice. Snow is great in the early months, come March it's warn off.

12. Can you ice skate?
I can. I wouldn't say I'm Kristi Yamaguchi by any stretch but i'm not half bad!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
My engagement ring last year was a pretty good gift!

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Being with loved ones. This will be the first Christmas ever I'm not going to be with my mother. But I'll be with Music Guy's parents so don't feel too bad! :)


15.What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Not a big sweets fan. But I do love a cheese tray! Cherry pie if I have to pick a dessert.

16. What tops your tree?
A bow. We did it again this year...We're trimming the tree and think oh crap we forgot to get an angel. I really need a reminder at the end of the season to pick one up on sale. Anyone want to remind me!

17. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
I LOVE shopping for people. Mainly the guys in my life, guy stuff is just more fun to pick out ot me.

18. What is your favorite Christmas song?

19. What is your favorite Christmas movie?

Chevy Chases National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. I kid you not, my family has worn out about two VHS tapes. We just love it!

20. What would be the best gift you could receive this year?
That's a great question I actually need to get on that. A new TV would be great!

What do a tree and a trukey have in common.....

If you live in Charlestown they both come frozen....

We got our tree yesterday from the Boys and Girls Club of Charlestown and it is a tree I'll always remember. We got home and cut the twine and unlike most tress not one branch moved. It had ice on it but we didn't realize it was frozen solid all the way through. We had to bring it inside to thaw out. I had three beach size towels around it and they're all soaked! I put warm water in the tree stand to help speed up the thawing and our tree stand was steaming, it was cold! Then we sprayed warm water on it and finally that was helping it "lay down". We got our tree at 2pm and finally at 9pm we started to decorate it. There was something not right about going to bed and not having it decorated, but I had to pull off the final ice chunks before I'd put lights on it. Of course Music Guy reminded me the same lights go outside and we'd be fine. Dauh Kimba!

It was a very good weekend fast but good! We had J & G over and we went out to dinner. Saturday we tried not to freeze while running around. Sunday we had MG's dad over along with J & G for our 1st Annual Tree Trimming Party (we decided that after the fact). Next year we'll get a head of the game and thaw our tree out before the guest arrive!

I'm out of the office the next two days for work. Just think when I get back to the office it'll be Thursday!!! Though i'll still be working and have my blackberry it'll be a nice change!
