HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAINEE!

Not only is it my birthday today, but it is also my very very best friend & Maid of Honor Liane's! How can you not be BFF's with someone who was born on the very same day (and year) as you were! I had to share a few of my favorite pictures!

Celebrating our first (19th) birthday together at the Phi Sig house, now why wouldn't a fraternity want to throw us lovely ladies a par-tay?! Why did we feel the need to wear tiaras? *If you hadn't noticed I spent a good part of my freshman year in college tanning and bleaching my hair, ugh! The frat boy in the picture I fell hard hard hard for, and only Liane can tell you how excited I was when he asked me to his formal and now well I can't even remember his last name! HA!
A trip back home to visit Liane at school!

A trip back home visiting Liane at RZ!

Cocktails and girl talk at Liane's!

Liane's first time seeing Fenway!!!

At my Madison wedding shower, with my two MOH's, JJ on the right (MG's sister!) how cute is Liane wearing my wedding colors, that's how she rolls!

Liane has a fear of flying but flew out for my batch party! All of my hot bridesmaids!

One of my favorite pictures!!! Taken at Liane's engagement party!

Music Guy and Liane breaking it down at our wedding!

Gosh we're cute, at my rehearsal dinner!

I tried to find a picture of us from her wedding as I was her MOH and mine as she was my MOH of course, but was unsuccessful. Hummm?!

Love you lots Lainee Beans and miss you terribly all the way out East!!!

Happy 2-7 to me!

Yay for me!!!!

How would you monogram this name?

Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland

I'd go by Jack Bauer if I were KWFDGRS.

Just sayin'

Yay for health and Lilly!

I'm on the upswing and feeling good!

Thank you for your very sweet thoughts! I have had a few people around me the last couple of weeks who have been sick as heck and I can't say I'm surprised I finally got it. And no I did not get a flu shot. So add that to my list of to-do's for next year.

I DVR'd the Jubilee Lilly show on Martha today and was so happy to come home and watch it! How fun was it to see our own blogging gals and my fave Jewelry Designer KEP in the audience, I can't wait for them to get home and they update with their own stories and pictures! Just like my gal TCP I wore my Lilly scarf to work today, it added a little pop to my black suit!

Did you watch?

All i can say is having it stay lighter longer and seeing all of that pink and green I AM READY FOR SPRING!!!!!!!

Cheers to All Things Lilly!

Down for the count....

I kicked off my birthday week with the stomach flu! Spent the last two days resting in bed, working in bed, blogging/twitting while laying down. Because well laying down was about the only thing I could do to not throw up.

I'm feeling better this afternoon so that is a huge plus! Yesterday I couldn't eat or drink a thing but today I was able to have some ginger ale, toast and applesauce! I am even going to try to have some chicken noodle soup tonight! Crazy kid I am!
I hope you are having a good week, hopefully I'll be back in the swing of things tomorrow! Though I enjoy a little Days of Our Lives I am starting to see reruns on The SoapNet and I need to draw the line!

Cape Bound

It was 63 on the Cape today, we took advantage and got out of the city and headed to the Cape.

I decided it was a perfect day to go for a run on the beach, so that is what I did! And it was just what I needed!

You can't see it too well but if you look closely the little white speck is the slow ferry heading over to Nantucket! How fun would it be to be on board! Though I'd prefer the fast ferry! Also the piece of land you see in the back is the Hyannisport Club where we had our wedding reception!

Though I might not be blogging daily, it's always on my mind! I thought what is preppier then my blog in sand!

Though I took a bunch of pictures I sure got a great workout in! If you saw a crazy lady doing pushups and crunches on the beach, you should have said hi, it was me! Dork! :)

Aren't we just too cute!

Check out the two pictures M took of us! I have the hardest time uploading pix from our Mac so please forgive me.

I know most of you are huge The Bachelor fans, but this gal is watching another the other Bachelor that is on Monday nights, 24, Jack Bauer never lets us down!

The snow was not to bad by the time I was up to shovel and to tell you the truth I don't mind shoveling at all. I think of it as a little extra workout! Though I prefer my morning workouts with less snow blowing into my face.

How did you ladies fare with the snow?

I would actually rather talk about the snow then the fact the Dow was under 7000, and stayed that way at the close. First time since 1997. So what were you doing in '97? I was a freshman in High School, nuff said, it's been a while.

Sorry this is so random and short, but like i said Jack's on!

Hi, welcome and thank you to my new followers!!!

Layout

As you can see I changed my layout so I could add the "followers" tab!!!

I would like to add the twitter app to the sidebar, any idea how to add it?

We had a wonderful time last night, we talked so much we forgot to snap a lot of pics. I swear if Libby were there we would have had more pictures! M did take a couple so I'll post them as soon as she gets them off her camera!

It seems a lot of us in blogland are getting some snow, be careful all!

More Blogging Meet up Post

I'm going to be sending out an email tomorrow with details for our big Saturday get together!

I have most of your emails, but if you'd like to be added leave a comment with your email address and I'll add you.

Hope you all enjoy the Oscars tonight, though I haven't seen any of the movies I can't wait for it to start!

Cruddy day in Boston so in turn I have the cleanest house on the block! I went to TJ Maxx in Somerville to see if I could score some JCrew shoes, but of course I was a little late to the party. But I'll keep my eye out!

Dow Dow Dow

I took a screen shot of my company's stock this afternoon when it hit $2.81. When I started over three years ago it was at $56.00+ a share.
Well Dow you closed this week at 7200...its been a long short week. I'm looking forward to a upswing next week, got it? I'm just sayin'!
xo,
Your biggest fan Kimba
Am I the only one who can't get enough of Bernie Madoff and the Ponzi Scheme?

In happier news, we'd love to meet you next Saturday, leave a comment if you'd like to join!

None of the above needs to be discussed!

It's great to finally meet some of the gals you share your first cup of coffee with in the morning, your lunch with at your desk or maybe even that much needed glass of wine when the kids are in bed and you are able to sit down and catch up on bloglines!

Cheers!

Preppy Blogging Meet up

We’re still on for the preppy meet up on February 28th, and I hope you still are too!

I’d like to throw out two options for you local ladies and if you would leave your vote in the comments we can tally up the winner! Both options very are close to Boston, exact locations will be give out via email to those who can make it.

Preppy Option 1) Preppy E Potluck at our favorite ladybugs house! E has volunteered to host our meet up at chez ladybug! Each of us could bring a dish that we might typically bring to outings with our friend/family. Or I was thinking a “theme” but then the only theme I can think of is Mexican or something to do with March (green beer)? HA!

Preppy Option 2) Boston Preppy Drinks and Apps - If going into the city seems more what you’re looking for; I can find a restaurant that has parking relative close, the T and of course has a prep in it!

Don’t be shy let us know what you’d prefer! As I said either choice would have you very close to Boston. We hope everyone can make it, these events always are a grand time and the memories and stories make for excellent blogging material!

If you miss this meet up don’t worry, when the weather gets nicer we’ll plan a mid-week meet up for cocktails on the water! And i'll be hosting one in the spring where we can use our "outdoor space" as us city folks like to call it.

Cheers!

Big ole weekend

Thank you for all of your comments and email, it meant a lot!

I will get the heels on Tuesday!!! The only thing is for some reason the order says a size 9 narrow were shipped while this homegirl wears a 8 or 8 1/2 no narrow in this house. So I'm thinking they will be going back. But i'll try them on and will be able to tell how wonderful they are. But I know another pair in my size will be on it's way after that pair is returned! Unless there is someone out there that is a 9 narrow and would like them. I got them for $130! Hope you didn't think I paid full price for them, no way on earth would that fly in this house! Love your husband for that come end of the month ie credit card statement time!

I was thinking about what I did last year for Valentine's Day and it brought a smile to my face. The wonderful Libs and I met for a drink! Here is a little reminder!

I actually wore that jacket to work today, without even thinking I wore it last year on V-Day to work!

I'll have a recap for our Gala tomorrow night, should be so fun!!!!

Enjoy the weekend (hopefully it's a long one)!

Cheers!

Here I am

I hate when I go a week without blogging when I have things I could be blogging about. I can only post from home (or my phone) so it gets thrown by the wayside come 7pm when I walk in the door (that's on a good night)!

We had to go to Detroit this last weekend as MG's favorite Aunt passed away from cancer. It was a tough end to last week and a very sad weekend. But she is in heaven now and no longer suffering and in pain. Never easy though.

This week will fly by as Saturday Valentine's Day we (along with MG's parents, sister and BIL)are hosting a Valentine's Day Gala sponsored by his other sister's charity (whom passed away in 2000) We still have a lot of details to wrap up but it will be a fabulous evening with great food, drinks and a silent & live auction! I'll post a recap next week!

Emotional times indeed.

On a lighter note I purchased my first pair of Cole Haan Air Pump's! A few of you have blogged about how much you love them and I have been wanting to get a pair and finally did! I ordered them online so I sure hope they come soon! I can't wait!!!
Hope you have a good week!

Tote talk vol 87893743

Ok, so you all remember the Burberry tote I didn't like.

Well I decided to give it a test drive last night and low and behold I love it! I've been using my Lands End tote since the wedding so downsizing didn't seem like an option for me. But after I took out my wallet, and a few extra things I like to have with me the stuff left was just random crap. Like who needs 6 pens in their bag? The only thing is I like to carry files around with me to and from work to read on my commute and though they will fit, it doesn't leave a lot of room.

THAT said, thank you all for your suggestions and thoughts on the subject!

The lovely Nina asked about the points I used to buy it. Well at work they use to have this points reward system that executives could give out for "a job well done" or for really any reason. (It is the same reward company that Airlines use for their miles rewards) I think they are about 5 cents a point, so I had enough to buy the tote and an elliptical!!! The reason I had so many points was because I have not used any in the 3 plus years i've been there. I was holding on to them to get something big!

Ah yes, the elliptical... it was to arrive on Dec. 30 but because of the big snow storm we got it was delayed. So it finally arrived two weeks later and is still sitting in our foyer until the contractors are finished with our bedroom project. Which should be finished tomorrow!!!

Has anyone seen the Slap Chop ad, it is so funny, it's with Vince the ShamWow guy!

halsea bags and more

I am loving the new company halsea they have super cute and super preppy bags, accessories and a travel collection!

They have some super cute designs but I love love love the Boat Canyon collection, and I've been eyeing the clutch. I've always wanted a clutch wallet and I might have to add this little gem to my wish list!

Check out their website and find a store near you! I hope Blackstones in Beacon Hill picks up their line, it would be great to have them sold in Boston! I'm always looking for new designers and I think one takes the cake right now!

We tote ya so....

My Burberry tote came in the mail today and well, I don't like it.

I should have gone with the basic Kate, but noooo I had to be all crazy and go for the Burberry. I'm up in the air on what to do with it. Maybe if I hang on to it, it'll grown on me.

What to do...what to do...

**I got it with points so it's not as if I can just return it.

ETP and ME

I was thinking the other day when I was going through my stacks of Engligh Tea Paperie and I was thinking the lovely Chloe has known about 90% of my note card orders before I do! How you ask...

I have gotten multiple cards from my mom over the last year and half that were surprises and ended up on my doorstep without me knowing. And one time C even added in return labels because she is just that sweet!

The one that has meant the most to me was my "Something new" note cards from my wonderful Maid of Honor Liane. She had this whole box full of "something old, something blue, something borrowed and something blue". Talk about being spoiled! I will search through my pictures and post each one of them as it was the most wonderful gift I have ever gotten!

Ok back to my story, my something new where note cards with my new name on it! And of course Chole had to make them up and send them to Liane for Liane to then give to me. It was really thoughtful on Liane's part to use ETP and also said she knew it would mean even more to me knowing who made them up for me!

So all of that being said, I would march (click) your way over to ETP and check out preppy fabulous designs. I am over the moon excited for the St Patrick's Day Shamrock, I know just the person who would enjoy a set of these (I'm not talking about me!)!

I wanted to write this post because when ever I use my ETP cards I always smile because of who is behind the company a truly sassy English gal who always makes her readers laugh and her clients happy!

*AND no she has no idea i'm writing this post!!!

Drink Up

I am in love with Poland Springs Sparking water, The Raspberry Lime is a personal favorite! While over at J & G's last weekend J had gotten Raspberry Lime Adirondack sparking water in a twelve pack cans.

So while I was shopping at Stop & Shop I found their brand of that is exactly the same but 2 dollars less. And who doesn't love drinking a water called "Zazz Seltzer"?! I highly recommend it!

You know it's bad if I'm blogging about H2O!
wow, i didn't notice when I took that pic it would be a "wedding ad" rings and the picture, classic. I about 99% of the time don't wear my rings when i'm home, not sure why, they bug me I guess.

Top It Off Accessories Sale

HERE I AM! My blog has been locked for about a week and I was able to get blogger to reset my password, though the password was not the issue. It seems someone tried to "hack" into my account. I tell you people, if I was trying to do some hacking blogger would be my first stop!

On to bigger and better news, I wanted to quickly remind you all the great sale Top It Off is having for the month of January. They are offering 50% off your total order purchase with the code Cheers(discount will be applied when the order ships) and Free Shipping through the month of January.

I'm a huge fan of their belts, I love the black crab belt, I pair it with a black suit and pink button down for work. I also wear it with black pants and a black top and my pink scarf when i'm feeling sassy in the office.

That is just one of many items i'm a huge fan of. The also sent me a lovely super preppy pair of pink and green flip flops I blogged about this summer. I pretty much have worn them in, which is not easy but it is if you wear them to commute every day and I wore them in the sand and they got a little dirty. But they're holding strong! If you notice on their site they have some new styles coming out in February for those of us who are taking a mini spring break or just want to think spring!
Head on over and add a little pop to your already preppy style!

As Seen on TV - Vol 1

Strap Perfect

And I thought the Snuggie was the best thing seen on TV in ages (Shamwow is pretty close), but the Strap Perfect has to be the oddest product yet! The ad shows the women in skimpy tank tops with big bra straps, after you attach the "strap perfect" you look like you lose 10 pounds and gain a cup size.

What will they think of next?!

Yikes!

I know it's the Holidays, but i couldn't let this pass.

She is looking pretty scary.

HO HO HO

We're about to head down to the Cape for the night and then it's back into the City to host Christmas dinner!

Two years ago today, my mom and I went to the Cape for Christmas and little did I know what Music Guy had in store for me! We got engaged and it was in the 50's and there was no snow a perfect setting for a beach engagement!

I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful husband, family, friends and of course all of my blogging friends! I'm one lucky gal!

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

Cheers,

Kimba

My two picks...

I am going to go ahead and try my luck at a pair of Uggs with a Burberry tote on my arm.

I wore my winter boots all day while I was running around from store to store and I don't need to replace them yet, they're as good as new so I would be getting the Bean Boots just because I "wanted" them.

I also have a good black purse and I think the Burberry tote would be a fun add to my bag collection. And I showed Music Guy both of them and didn't like the kate. Not sure how on earth he couldn't like it.

Thank you all for your help, it was fun to read what you're picks would be! I'll let you know what I think when my purchases arrive. I will let you all say I told you so if I regreat not getting the kate spade purse! :)

Purse-onal choice

I'm going to get one of these two purses, but I'm not sure exactly which one, a little help would be wonderful!

kate spade medium shopper
Burberry Haymarket tote

I am thinking about the Burberry, what do you think?

Christmas Parties and Coughing

So I'm still sick and like Music Guy said we shouldn't go to our friends Christmas Party because of it. But I've been so ba humbug the last few weeks that I figured a fun filled Beacon Hill Christmas Party would do the trick to get me into the spirit! I think it worked! Though my cold is not any better (dare i say worse). Here's a little picture of my new friends I met at the party last night, Hadley, Kim & Kimba. Kim and I of course bonded over our name, at one point she asked her friend if she should starting using "Kimberly" instead of "Kim", too cute! They were a fun group to hang out with! MG's sister J and her husband G were there also, it's always nice to see them!

My doctor was on call today and I spoke with him this morning and he said "God you sound terrible", I pay good money for that advise people! He told me to keep doing what I'm doing and to come in tomorrow morning and see him. Just by talking to be on the phone he thinks it's bronchitis. So I did ask him if I could skip the visit and if he could just give me some drugs, he didn't think that would work and wants to do a chest x-ray as I have asthma. So let's look at the upside of going to the Doctor's: the office is in Beacon Hill right by the Whole Foods, and I need to do our Christmas dinner shopping. I can then run quickly to Trader Joe's to get the rest of the shopping done, i.e. buy wine! Has anyone had the Trader Company wine (Velvet Moon, Honey Moon) it's $5.99 and pretty good! Thanks A for bringing it over! I'm already taking tomorrow as a vacation day so I'm happy to not have to go during work.
Did i mention my ribs hurt from all of my coughing? I don't think I'm a baby when it comes to being sick, but this cold might be different. Let's just pray I get better in time for Christmas, no body wants me coughing all through mass.
Has anyone ever tried a Neti Pot? My dad says it worked wonders when my step-mom was sick. So I might quickly run out and get one, why not?! Though the going out part doesn't seem to appealing.
Can I tell you Facebook is the new "we need to exchange phone numbers/email address", it's now, "Are you on Facebook, if so what's your last name so I can friend you", it's a good way to know way more about a person then you ever wanted to. And you have a better probability to hang out if you're seeing what they're doing all the time. That being said, I have three new friends from the party last night. They were super fun girls and I look forward to seeing them again!

Random post I know, I'm watching the Pats game, blogging and trying not to annoy my husband by coughing all over the place. I think he's fed up with the extra noise in the house! :) In sickness and in health my friend!!
Back to bed for me. Humph!

Bunker Hill

Check out this blog post for what has been going on in my neck of the woods!

Bunker Hill Pilot

It was of course all the buzz while I was getting my hair done tonight. Staring in the new Pilot is Donnie Wahlberg, Brian Dennehy and Bridget Moynihan. My stylist wants to break into Hollywood doing hair and makeup so she strutted her stuff over to meet the on site makeup person and was able to get his # and has already shown him her work and they have a meeting set up for her to help him when he's in town. She's a total rockstar so I'm not surprised she was able to wow him! She also was on set with them while they were shooting in East Boston and "Southie" South Boston.

Well speaking of my neck of the woods, we're supposed to get a mighty snow storm tomorrow afternoon that will be similar to Dec13 2007 snow storm.
You can read my post from last year here. Good luck my Boston friends, I don't want to read any stories of any of you sitting in your car for 8 hours trying to get home!

Let it snow!!!

Boot-yeah

H aka Kapa Prep aka Monograms and Manicures has been blogging this week about boots, a great blogging subject I might add! She has posted some very cute ones that I would love to scoop up this second! So it got me thinking about my boot situation (a little different type of boot but that's living in New England).

I am about 90% sure I've talked myself into getting Uggs. I've heard how comfortable they are and that they keep your feet dry and warm. Which is huge for commuting in Boston, I never thought I would break down and get a pair but this winter might be it.

But today I got to thinking about the Bean Boots, would it make more sense to get those over Uggs? Now that we're home owners I foresee a lot of shoveling in my future. I do have Columbia boots that I got my freshman year of college because my mom said I HAD TO HAVE THEM if I was going to walk around campus in the Wisconsin winters. I've worn them a handful of times but not much, they're very bulky.

I like the classic look of these and love rubber moc boot, but they are not good for tromping through the snow.

Bean Boot:
Uggs:
Though this is what I think of every time I think about owning a pair of Uggs.

I know I've really listed two totally different types of boots. But do I go for the Uggs because I already have winter boots or keep my Ugg dream alive for another season and get the Bean boots?

"The Tree"

Our tree Mr. Chubster fell over last night. I was already in bed watching back to back to back episodes of Real Housewives of Orange County, don't judge I'm sick! When MG came in the room and asked if I would mind helping him. I came out and there was leaned up against the wall (neatly placed after it took a digger) with the ornaments all over the floor.

So after work this evening we will be redecorating our tree.

Wish me luck!

"ALL NIGHT LONG"

We had such a wonderful time at the wedding this weekend! Their theme was the song from Lionel Richie "All Night Long", it was featured in little parts through out the wedding. I'm bummed I don't have a lot of details pictures, more dancing ones! But I will post when I get more of our friends pictures. It was awesome! The reception was at the EpiCenter in South Boston, I am a huge fan of cocktail receptions! The night turned into a full on dance party!

How cute is this sign, it was hung up as you walked in!

Haaachuuuuu

I'm rocking a pretty bad cold and I was actually told by my co-worker I should go home early as my coughing was scaring everyone. I agreed and took off, though it was 4:15, still I beat the traffic and was able to jump on the bus without waiting!

The upside, i'm at home working with a rerun of Wife Swap on. The show is so bad it's kind of good, I never watch it but when I do I get a big kick out of it!

I was happy to beat MG home so I could turn all of the Christmas Lights on and he could see how nice it looks when I come home everynight and their on!

I'll be posting our weekend wedding pix tomorrow!

Now TMZ is on, only bad TV is allowed when I'm home alone! (Too bad I already watched last weeks Starter Wife!)

Tree - 2008

Here you go, our tree! It doesn't look as big in the picture, but believe me the thing is massive.

In honor of the Pats game that is on right now!

This was the favor at the wedding last night, a glass ball and the ribbon has their name and wedding date on it. Super cute idea!

Ho Ho Ho

Sunday = Funday

The weekend has been wonderful! We got and decorated our tree Friday night, we had the fire going, Christmas tunes playing and the Celtics in the background. A perfect evening in my book! (If you want a good laugh you can go back to Dec. 11, 2007 post and look at our tree from last year!) Every year we say we're not going to get a huge tree and this is our third tree together and well it's the biggest yet. Maybe next year!

Saturday I was up early and out to the mall, in which i walked around aimlessly for an hour, very unproductive! I figured to make my outing worth it I would head to Trader Joe's and get the weeks shopping out of the way. I got a whole slue of different wines to try, we're hosting Christmas dinner so I loaded up. And of course I ran into someone I work with and luckily it is the holiday season and the multiple cases of wine could be justified!

Moving right along! I got home and bundled up and went out for a run, it wasn't too bad actually though when I ran along the Navy Yard the wind was pretty fierce. I continued to the Bunker Hill Monument, it is never open when I got for my runs but finally I timed it right! 294 stairs later I was finally at the top, it was absolutely beautiful and such a clear day. I had my phone with my so I got some pictures!

A view of the Boston skyline and the harbor

Anyone who lives local or visits Boston I would recommend doing this, it's a bit of a "hike" but it is very worth it when you get to the top. I also don't know how people could do it in the summer, it would be way to hot for me! I live a few blocks from there so I ran almost home and walked the last block, where I stepped wrong on the sidewalk and rolled my already bad ankle and took a big digger. I hobbled to the nearest bench and pretty much teared up it was so painful! I was so pissed, not sure if I was upset because I know I need to wear a brace on it when I workout or that we were going to a wedding in a few hours and I only had heels to wear. So I gimped home iced it and sucked it up and went with my original heeled plan!
we hopped in the cab with A & B and headed over to the Boston College Chapel for the wedding, what a beautiful Church! And the reception was at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in South Boston. It was a cocktail reception and so a full out dance party, we had a blast! I will upload some pictures in a separate post!
Needless to say today I am on the couch with a bag of ice and walking is not too easy. But I'm hoping tomorrow it will be on the up, because this truly sucks!

Vita Muffins

I have been so busy this morning that I couldn't take time to run to and put my muffin in the microwave so I instead thawed it out on my PC fan under a lamp. Not my finest moment!

We have our final wedding of the year this weekend and I can't wait! It is being held in Boston which is even nicer for us city folks! I know the Bridesmaids are wearing black dresses but it is an evening wedding and i've told myself it is acceptable to also wear a black dress as what else does one wear to an evening wedding in the winter!

We're getting our tree tonight! And it happens to be 60' in Boston, though it is raining right now and it is back to freezing tomorrow, i am loving this weather!

That's right, we don't have our tree and I have zero shopping done. And with said wedding this weekend, I don't see a whole lot of my shopping getting completed. It might be a cyber type of year, it will be a light year I can tell you that!

Gym vs. Lunch debate

Colleague: "We're headed out to lunch want to join us"

Gym goer: "No thank you, I'm headed to the gym"

Colleague: "You're going to the gym during work"

So let me ask you this...Why is it ok to go out to lunch for an hour and chit chat but if you go to the gym for an hour your "slacking".

Just sayin'

All Bull...

Market that is!

This picture is of three favorite things on my desk: my Black Dog nalgene bottle and the Stock Exchange Bull, I'm very optimistic that soon enough we'll be in a Bull Market!!!

See what a ton of iced coffee can do to this gal!

Wrap it up

If you look at these three pictures you can tell I'm a huge scarves! And if you also look at these pictures I tend to pair navy and white together.

How long do you think this trend will last? Are you a fan? I can sure tell you i'm going to keep it alive even after it's gone!

Hanging in Maine this fall; light boatneck cashmere JCrew sweater (navy)
Honeymoon; embossed JCrew dress

Wedding in Newport; Cotten Candy JCrew party dress

The theme here is navy, white and JCrew. I need to get out more!

One look I do not have pictured here is when I wear it to work with a suit and never take it off. Keeps me nice and toasty! Though it was meant to be worn just when I'm outside!

3rd Annual Christmas card exchange

It's that time of year again!

If you'd like to exchange Christmas cards this year send me an email at kimbakimba@gmail.com, all information will of course stay private! If we exchanged cards the last two years you'll still need to send me your address as my address listed was lost in a hard drive crashing incident. Annoying, I know but much appreciated!

It's always fun to see how the kids have grown and the fun cards that are sent! So send me an email and let the exchange begin!

Cheers

Happy Sunday!

A view out the window from our little NY ski vaca!

I do love Sunday's, I mean, come 7pm and the tick tick tick of 60 Minutes makes me unlike Sunday's. Side note: the ticking reminds me of having to go to my room and finish my homework. But Sunday's mean football and football means being cozy in your house rooting on your favorite team and hopefully some good cooking in the oven. So that brings me to what to make? If I had leftover turkey I would make a big pot of soup!

We had a wonderful trip, Music Guy has family that have a house in Ellicottville so for those asking that is why we were there! What a fun ski town, I wish we lived closer as I could spend all winter there! A guy I work with said it is the "Cape Cod" for Buffalo residents.

So MG just said Ebay (paypal) is offering 10% off, damn! And Pottery Barn is offering 20% just for today, I really think with our gift cards and the discount today is the day we get our wine bar. Wish the other party in our house agreed! (no pun!)

As you can tell this post is a bunch of random thoughts, sometimes needed for a Sunday afternoon!

I do want to thank you all for making my trip to and from NY joyful as i read blogs on my phone a good part of the way. The drive there I drove most of the way and the way home I didn't drive at all. The last hour was bummer to bummer on the Mass Pike, and an accident didn't help matters when we got to the Weston Tolls.

Looking forward to a good Pats vs. Steelers game today! GO Pats!!!! And Green Bay, please don't lose!

Gobble Gobble

Down the Pike and over the border off to Ellicottville, NY we go!

We're taking off now and are a little behind plan for our 8 hour plus drive! But The weather looks good and i don't think I forgot a thing!

Wishing you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend!

Cheers

White Coffee

They're many things about Spain and our Honeymoon that I miss but on a rainy Tuesday in Boston the one thing that sticks out is a hot cup of White Coffee! I have been searching online trying to find out the perfect way (hey doesn't have to even be perfect) to make myself a cup at home. Any suggestions from you coffee loving gals out would be much appreciated!

When we were having this cup of coffee at a Cafe we were the only ones not having a beer or glass of wine (10am), one thing I don't think I could get use to.

Bridesmaid Gifts

I gave my bridesmaids the Lands End tote pictured and the fabulous anchor koozie (also not pictured were the pearl necklaces and earrings they also received)! These two things have a special meaning to me...because... Lands End is from my home state of Wisconsin, I simply love the totes as they have pockets all the way around the bag. Secondly the koozie is made by our very own talented blogger Magster of Dellamea Designs, Mag was fast and so wonderful to work with! Head on over and pick up some of her monogramed goodies!

Three's a charm

Does anyone know if The Musings of a not so Desperate Housewife is blogging again?

Cheers

In the mail

Yesterday these three things came in the mail. The new Lilly & JCrew catalogs and my 401k statement.

Oh the irony. All three are going into the trash unopened. Well I may have peeked at the Lilly catalog!

Who knew?

So I was just reading people.com and I just read that Madonna and Sean Penn were married, yeah so i had no idea.

I was three when they got married, but still, I should have know this.

Fave A will be disappointed when she reads this!

Readers Opinion:

I want to first start out by giving a big Rah Rah to Kristy over at La Petile Blog for the start of her 31 day challenge for her 31st birthday! You have to exercise for 30 min everyday for 31 days! If you miss a day you add 30 min on the next day. I have also joined along side and so far the blog friends motivation has helped!

So while at the gym I was flipping through the newest Shape (with Faith Hill on the cover, we'll get back to how great she looks later) and the reads poll questions was.

"Should gym memberships be tax-deductible?"

Here are one yes and no they published:

YES;
"An ounce of prevention is with a pound of cure. An incentive like this would save health insurance companies and the government a lot of money in the long run"

NO;

"Giving a tax break to people who sign up at the gym-but not to those of us who exercise outdoors-is unfair."

The funny thing about the women who said no was she was from Michigan, I've lived in the mid-west, not a lot of runners out in January, but God Bless her!

So what's your take? In all honesty I could kind of go either way but lean heavily towards YES.
I like her wording of "an ounce of prevention" it's so very true. In some area's gyms are very expensive and unless you do just workout from home you have no choice but to pay a lot of money for a membership.

A few Boston/Suburb examples:

Boston Sports Club (unlimited membership meaning you can use any of their clubs) $120per/month
Fit Corp (same unlimited criteria) $89 single - $67 family (that is for one additional person added to the single membership)
Beacon Hill Athletic Club $75

Planet Fitness $10-15 (though they have more memebers then equipment/parking spots)

So there are a few gyms i've been a member of througout my moves around the city. I'm still a member at Planet Fitness but never use it as again you can't park anywhere (or even walk there) and you'll never get a good working treadmill. And also a member at Fit Corp which is right around the corner from my office and there is also one two blocks away from Chez Kimba.

That is a long winded way of saying...which way would you go YES or NO?

Do you Facebook?

I've seen a few of you blog in the last few weeks about Facebook. It's been a fun little connection with people I grew up with. And it's also been fun to find out more about my blog friends! If you'd like to "friend me" my email is kimbakimba @ gmail.com

Moving along, I read on US Weekly.com that Lipstick Jungle is NOT being cancelled per Brook Shields. Now It has be wondering is she just saying that and they're finishing up the season or did my prayers (along with others) get answered and it's still on!

I enjoyed the post by A Glimpse of the Girl Nest Door regarding finding new blogs. I too enjoy searching everyones blogrolls for new blogs. It's always nice to come across a fun new read, and I do tend to backtrack to be caught up! No one likes to be out of the inside joke loop!

I will make a point to start posting the new blogs I find. Some of them may only be new to me, but it's always nice to get a shout out!

Yeah for tomorrow being Tuesday!!!

Halloween!

We got some slack for branding our wedding with the coordinates of Hyannis Port so what better way to keep it going then as a Halloween costume?/!

The labels on our hats we put on the hotel welcome bags!
Hope everyone enjoyed!

We went to a wedding in Newport this weekend, it's was just wonderful, i'll get some pictures up soon!
