Karma will get you....

I forgot to add this below. This morning I went to Starbucks to get a Venti Latte and there was a homeless man who was standing outside next to a vent blowing out warm air. This kind of pulled at my heart, soon enough I'd be in my cozy office enjoying a $4.15 latte. I've seen this guy a few times and he doesn't sit and beg or holler at anyone he just sits there. I got him a coffee and set it down next to him not two seconds later some jackass in his big suit kicked it with his foot. Sure he might not have meant to, but the guy kind of laughed. I looked at him with this f you look and shook my head. The lid did not come off so not much spilled but that's not the point. The homeless guy looked at me and smiled and I went on my way.

This is not something I've ever done, it was just something about seeing him on the second coldest day we've had.

Karma is a bitch you big suit wearing asshole.

What a tender heart you have.

It be wonderful if there were more people in the world like you to somehow balance all the a-holes; but I fear there are not near enough kind hearts like yours.

Take comfort in knowing your kindness made a difference in the homeless person's life today. And what goes around comes around. Mr. fancy a-hole suit will have his day.

But Karma is a good thing to, and paying it forward always pays off!

Cheers Kimba and Happy New Year!

I used to do that same thing with this homeless guy on my way home from work in London, UK. I would get him hot tea and a cake. I often cried when I walked away because it was cold and I was off to my toasty home and there he was on the cold floor.

I think what you did was really nice. Karma will treat you nicely lovely Kimba!

you are wonderful! And who in the world would do that? We are in Chicago and fortunately I have seen no homeless people. It is hard to walk by them, especially when you are carrying your venti, which by the way, I just brought back to the hotel!

An asshole in a suit--aren't those the worst kinds?? What a shitty thing to laugh at.

But what nice thing for you to do. Life is hard enough on the streets (we have tons of homeless people here owing to a mostly temperate climate and mostly tolerant attitude), but it's got to be particularly rough in areas like Boston. It puts a smile on my face to know there are nice people like you out there.

I used to buy this guy a coffee on Fridays who hung around by my office T stop when I worked in Malden. Nowadays I occasionally pay for the person behind me in the DD line. The way I see it, it's just something nice to do, so why not do it if you can? Sometimes I wonder whatever happened to him, especially when it's cold as hell like it's been this week.

Good for you Kimba for being a ray of light for that cold guy.

You did your part! I believe that even a small kind thing can make a huge difference.

When I bartended in college I used to bring this homeless guy who hung out nearby dinner after work. It didn't fix everything in his life - but it did a little good thing (for him AND me).

In keeping with the 'karma is a bitch' theme, hopefully the Starbucks barista gave him decaf instead of regualr.
