Mini-Cape-Vaca

Tuesday morning I packed up 4 tote bags drove to work and couldn't wait to be done for the week! That's right, we took off Wednesday-Friday and headed to the Cape! We drove separately so at about 4:45 my bossed kicked me out of the office to start my vaca and away I went!

I had tons of traffic and pour rain for the full two hour ride, but I didn't care and turned on the radio and my iPhone charging and was rocking my way down Rt. 3 Cape bound!!!
The continued into Wednesday morning so we headed into Hyannis for brunch at The Daily Paper and to walk around the downtown which is something we would never do unless well we never would. That tells you how much we wanted to feel on vaca and to take it all in! This is my egg beater cheese and broccoli goodness! And of course my standard "dry rye", it was so good! Thursday we had to take the Jeep in to get an oil change, we only take it to the Jeep dealer down there as we want to keep her in tip top shape and they will have records of any work we have done. While waiting we headed to Osterville Fish Too and got a little lunch. I was so excitied about the coleslaw, and it was as good as I remembered!

Finally it was nice enough to take the Jeep top off and it felt so good to cruse around and give the "Jeep wave" in style! RJ formally known as Music Guy is proudly wearing his 2009 FIGAWI Sailing Mount Gay hat! It is not an easy hat to get, and I've already been told the "what's mine is yours and yours is mine" does not apply to this hat!

We headed to the beach for cocktail hour and I had to snap a picture, and then was made fun of, but hey, my mom would be proud! If you spy my neacklas, that was our fab bridesmaid gift from Sara's wedding, a true KEP classic! Some of you have asked about my sunglasses, they're RayBans, and not the typical ones you find, I've been searching for the link, so please stay tuned!

A perfect cocktail for the beach Sam Summer and a super cute monogrammed koozie! Thanks Liane!

A ride on the boat, no better way to spend a summer day!

It was too windy on Saturday to take the boat out, so we hit the beach, it was a great great day, and I loaded up on the SPF, more then I needed to, but this Irish gal needs her SPF more then you know!

All in all we had a wonderful vacation, and I'm not 100% ready to go back to work, but it's does feel fabulous to be home!

Very Proper Improper @BostonTweet

For those of you who either do not live in Boston or use Twitter, you may be a bit sick of hearing about BostonTweet, but get use to it. Kidding, I don't plan to have to many more post about it, but one never knows!

In the latest Improper Bostonian which is the Boston's Best Issue Tom of BostonTweet was pictured and @BostonTweet got a nice write up! And if you click on the link you'll see he used my picture and I got a little shout out on his blog, how cool do I feel you ask...extremely! So if you're local pick up the issue with Conan O'Brien on the cover and flip to page 19 and check it out for yourself!

Big cheers to Tom and @BostonTweet, much deserved!!!

Short and Sweet

As soon as I get pictures from the wedding I'll put them up here! Here was one I quickly snapped as we got ready! LOVED the dresses, the green really popped! AND Sara gave us KEP necklaces, how lucky are we!

In other sad news, Music Guy's grandmother past away Friday evening. He went to the Cape to be with his family, so I flew the wedding solo. Funny how much you miss someone when you're in a room of 200 wonderful people. It was hard not having him there, but as an Irish Catholic family we keep it close and know the importance of being together at times like this.

She was a wonderful lady and up until her last day she had everyone around her laughing.

BUT to close out on a happy note those of you in New England know how much freaking rain we've gotten this summer thus far, and as of Friday the forecast called for rain. AND I tell you what, someone was looking over them as here is a pic I snapped right before we left for the Country Club. Best summer day thus far for 2009! Sara is one of my best friends and I could not be happier for her and Ben, she is truly one of a kind and they're perfect for each other! I lost my bananas when she read the vows she wrote to him.

BTW, if you follow me on Twitter, none of this news is new! :)

I rarely give advice when not asked...but...

If ONE more blog says "I think I'm going to shut my blog down" i'm going to well i'll going to do nothing. But I don't get how people don't see the ONLY reason their doing that is so you can leave a comment about how your blog is their favorite and how much they would miss you. I give up.

But what do I know I got a DM on twitter this morning that stated the person hated me. How's that for a morning email!

In other news, Sara's Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner last night was fabulous! Tomorrow is the big day! I'm so so excited for her and Ben, love you dearly S!!! I'll post pix next week! The rain will clear for you my little lover!

Sad Sad Sad

A sure way to ruin my Sunday would be to tell me Billy Mays is dead. Oh wait...

Love love love, that guy!

A few details are coming out on TMZ about him being hit in the head while landing on a US Air flight after a tire blew out. Seems it could have been a concussion and then he went to sleep, but who knows. So so sad! We're huge PitchMen fans in this house, not to mention HUGE Billy Mays fans! Its just tragic!

A tough week in the public eye indeed!

I would say my favorite Billy Mays clip is The Awesome Auger so freaking funny! We're also very proud OxiClean users in this house!

Sad day at Chez Jones! It's all you now Sully!

Happy Father's Day Dad!!!

I wish I could have been in Wisconsin today to play a round of golf with my father!

I love this picture, my dad is picking on me for always tilting my head when I take pictures!
And our father daughter dance!
I love you lots!!!

A few last thoughts...

So the big run is tomorrow! And I am pretty nervous, I know i'll do well but still the nerves are there. MG said he'll take some pictures so I can post them tomorrow, you'll all enjoy the matchy matchy outfit I have planned to run in. Oh also have I told you yet that it is suppose to POUR rain the entire day. The upside is I love running in rain the down side is we're throwing a "Bunker Hill Day par-tay" after the race and before/during/after the parade. (Rolling cooler, check!). So we may not be able to extend the "BHDP" onto the deck, but we'll figure it out! I'll be happy to have the race out of the way! (And start training for my next one!)

I also have to tweak my running mix, not enough "jazzy" songs in the beginning. I need to add some more hip hop and switch the flow.

Had drinks with work people yesterday, it cracks me up when they tell me how they perceive me. I come off as: buttoned up and that I don't have any fun. HA, pretty sure that's an inaccurate statement. Also gave my boss the ins and outs on blogging and twittering. He knew about my blog, but explained the "tweet up" and he thought I was crazy. I also told him that I have referred to him as Rob Lowe on twitter, he was flattered. ha!

It feels good to be blogging again, highlight of my day reading your comments!

Also for those of you who have emailed me about the BostonTweet Widget, head on over to BostonTweet and get one for yourself! I've been surprised by the number of emails I've gotten around it, happy you guys like it! The guy behind BostonTweet is pretty cool himself!

Thanks for all of your support, i'll make Team Kimba proud with a good showing tomorrow! OH and Fave Couple are running it also, good luck A & B!!!! MG is watching Baby Will, so good luck to him too!

iBlogging

I am about to put together the "final final" Team Kimba running mix! I want to finish it tonight so I can give it a test "run" tomorrow during my final mini run. Not sure about some of you, but I am a huge fan of song placement. Not only do I love to have great songs to motivate me but how the songs are aligned is key for long runs!

Any suggestions?!

Not the biggest fan of blogging from my iPhone. But am lucky to have it!

Last "Big" Run before Sunday...

Which I waited until after work to complete as I knew it would be raining/misting and I LOVE running in the rain! And that it was a consent mist, more like it was spitting on you, I ended up running twice what I was suppose to, but who's counting! (Be careful on wet brick, I almost bit it while running around Kendall and MIT, but saved myself before I had a issue on my hand!)

This past weekend was Sara's big bach party, it was so much fun and I'm waiting to get pictures from the other girls to upload and show you just how freaking cute she was!

A busy week and weekend ahead, ahhh...summer is in full swing! Happy to be staying in the City this weekend, will be able to give a little TLC to my blog! Also I nixed the idea of putting "Follow @KimbaKimba" on the back of my running shirt. Funny but not sure the audience would get it! Though i'm a little bummed my "TEAM ATK" shirts haven't arrived! Next race!

I'm back...slowly...but back!

About Time ATK & Tweets

After some time off, I'm finally ready to get myself back into the blogging world!

A big part of my time has been taking up by this thing called "running"! I have been training for my first road race and am happy to report the race is this weekend! It was reported one of the hardest races in it's class for official certified races in the US. Good job Kimba, way to pick em'!

Last Thursday I attended my first TweeUp at the Rattlesnake in Boston, I would hope all of you would know what a "TweetUp" is by now, but if you're not on Twitter you may not so it's exactly what it sounds like. A Twitter Meet Up, and it was a great time. I will tell you I stuck out more then you could imagine. When you're in a room (or in this case a roof, "roofup") with a group of people who have been ahead of the technology curve most of the blogs they follow are not preppy blogs! Which was great for me as I was able to talk to them about a whole other world in the blogsphere.

Long story short I was of course nervous going as I didn't know anyone there (well one gal!) and 99% of the people I follow are my preppy blog friends, so I was about to walk into a room (roof) and just have to put myself out there and it was fabulous! I met a bunch of great people and finally got the push to do something different with my blog, and who knows what else! I'm happy I went and at the end of the day it shows how truly small of a world it is and how great it can be when many different interest come together through something we all love! Twitter!

Check out my sassy new BostonTweet Widget on my sidebar (as if i needed to point it out) if you're in Boston you should stop on over and add it to your site! You know me I don't use the word sassy unless I truly mean it!

I am HAPPY to be back back back!!!

Suz & E!!!

I think this pictures says it all, Kimba and Suz got to hang out last weekend and it was fabulous, about as fabulous as she is!

And if my day could have gotten any better, I met E for a yummy dinner and drinks.
AND then the three of us together at last!!!

Thanks for hanging Suz, next time I need to get you down to the Cape!

PHENWAY

Music Guy and I are heading to Fenway tonight to see Phish! If you follow me on Twitter you're probably sick of hearing about how excited we are!!!

Besides fishing, Phish is MG's other love, when ever he play's them I pretty much know I shouldn't speak for the duration of the song! (In a good way of course!) Who else would write their college thesis on one of their closing songs?

Preppy Blogging meet up vol. 8349379

I know I know, I may not even have any readers left as I took a little break and didn't give you a heads up. BUT I'M BACK!

A few weeks ago I met up with the freaking wonderful Sarah and TSINH (the sister i never had) E, we had a great dinner and of course even better cocktails! Every time we all get together we say "why don't we do this more often", it is always such a blast!

I went home last weekend and have some fun pictures to share. All is well at chez Kimba, just working a lot and getting ready for summer!

Random Thoughts...

While having drinks at Fave A's house last night it came to me I started dating my now husband when I was 22. Gesh, why was I exclusive so young.

You all know the term "Dress for the job you want not the job you have", i'll take that thought and apply it to this, "Dress for the activity level you want, not the activity you are". So with that I am in gym clothes blogging/twittering.

Off for a run, and yes my foot is still sore, so if my next update is from the ER, you can all say "i told you so".

Everyone wave Hi to my new blogging LA buddy Paisley Peunia, she is so super cute! Speaking of blogging BFF, my super super fave Suz, sent be the best email this morning, she wanted to let me know my boyfriend Joe Scarborough was on The Today Show, love it!

I was coming back from getting coffee this morning and a realtor was showing these young gals the one rental on our street and said this place is great if you're drunk and forget your keys as the door is always open, if it's ever locked just buzz the people above and tell them you just got back from the bar and have beer. SO what do I do, look at him give him this look and say "wow", and walked in our house. Yep, I am now old and don't want riff raff on our street. You can slap me now, i deserve it.

My wonderful friend Kate is running the Kentucky Derby Marathon today, good luck Kateson, you'll be great!!!

Off to enjoy the 80 degree day we have here in Boston!!!

Chalk this post up to "ALL THINGS KIMBA, ATK".

Jacked Up

If you've been following me on twitter you know i've been running a lot the past few months. Well yesterday I was about to head to the gym and I noticed my left achilles was hurting and ended up taking the day off from running. Well today it's 10 times worse, if anyone has ever had achilles problems they know how freaking painful it is.

I'm super bummed as it's very nice out and what a perfect day to go for a run outside around the Charles River. My right achilles is the one I've had looked at over and over from different doctors so now that i'm having pain in my left I official have bad achilles. Darn Greeks!

I've blogged about it my darn feet before. No way no how will I be back in any boot, so i've decided to let my heel heal.

So on this beautiful day I'm inside watching the Celtic's first playoff game and trying to force myself to read Class with the Countess, more on that later.

A few fave ATK Tunes

Alon: Right Now (Na Na Na), Beautiful, Don't Matter

TI: Dead and Gone, Live your Life, Whatever you Like

Ne-Yo: Miss Independent

Flo Rida: Right Round**

I thought you might like to see a few songs I listened to over and over on iTunes (30 seconds each over and over) Feeling pretty sassy getting in touch with my gangsta side!

**Right Round is the only song I own, and did listen to it on repeat for an entire 45 minute run!

Sox = Spring

The Red Sox are on and I am ONE happy girl!

Another All things Kimba moment:

I got these new shoe inserts that have grip on them as my shoes are a little to big after a few wears. So Monday I put them in my shoes and thought these are different but hey if they work then great. No real issues with them, just felt different, but what do I know, I've never used grips before. But thought the color blue was an odd color to have as the top of the insert, use to tan or black to match the shoe. Well I was cleaning out one of my desk drawers and found the package they came in (it was a 3 pack), for some reason I turned the package over and read the directions....SEEMS the "blue" side goes down. Yep, for three days I've had these fancy new inserts in upside down.

Tomorrow I will try a new pair the right way, stay tuned.

Take me out to the Ballgame

Tomorrow it starts, it all starts...OPENING DAY!!!! PLAY BALL!!!

I may tear up tomorrow afternoon watching our one and only Knighted Teddy Kennedy throw out the first pitch!

I would love to see the 2009 season bring us another one of the above pictures, Teddy going strong holding the World Championship Trophy.

This makes me think about summer and with summer comes a change in menu's, so if anyone out there has a good potato salad recipes please share! I made potato salad this afternoon and while it is still chilling in the fridge, I can tell it is sub-par.

LET'S GO SOX and cheers to the one sport that screams summer is almost here!!!!!

**Though we may actually see Opening Day on Tuesday, with the steady rain predicted.

World Autism Awareness Day

My very dear blog (but real) friend E is doing a giveaway as today is World Autism Awareness day, her daughter C has autism. I have learned so much about Autism after hearing E's stories and doing some of my own research to be more informed.

I know I have 9 min left until her giveaway is over, but it is never over, get informed and stop on over to every ones fave Picnic, she is the best mom, friend and is one person you would love to always surround yourself with!

Vineyard Vines Faves

**I spent a lot of time on this post and now blogger is not allowing me to upload pix. :(

In light of the fabulous 20% discount VV has offered us (and I do say us because you better bet I will be using it!) I thought it was a perfect time to showcase a few things I don’t think I could live without and have caught my eye!

I always thought if I were a guy I would be the best dressed fellow, luckily MG is pretty easy going and doesn’t mind if I pick a few things out for him, though he had to set a few ground rules.
MEN:

Baseball Tie: I think it is a perfect tie to wear next Monday for opening day!

Bull & Bear Tie: When you’re feeling good about the Dow, this would be a good way to show it off.

Gingham Tie: Screams summer

Golf Tie: I would like to see them revamp their golf ties, maybe I’ll do a mock up and submit, not likely, but a thought! Maybe a golf cart, actually it’s have already been done

Jersey ¼ Zip: Enough said!!!

Lobster Printed Seersucker Club Shorts: These kind of go without saying, but I like the clean look they have.

Rip Stop Cargo Shorts: MG said if I could find Nantucket Red Cargo shorts he would wear them, I have tried to find them for two summers and FINALLY I have found them! They might be a little more “pink” then what I was going for, but I think with a classic white button down they’ll be ideal!

Now of course those are just a few great items I’m a fan of, Spring/Summer could not get here soon enough!
WOMEN:

I own a lot of polo’s and find them to have a great fit, the classic polo’s are the only ones I go for as they’ve never done me wrong. I would love feedback on the other style’s they’ve put out over the last year.

A few goodies:
Polo Dress: I would love to see one in white with the navy whale, but then again, I don’t know if a full white dress is good for anyone who plans to wear it to “knock around”.

I can get behind this whole outfit!!!
Stafford Stripe Rowayton Ruffle Shirt:
Classic Twill Skirt:
Whale Cut Out Buckle Belt:

Seersucker Reina Dress: It looks long enough I could pull it off on a Friday at work with a cute white button up sweater. I am a huge fan of pieces I can work with for the office and for play.

Seaa Life Jackie Capri: I love this color combo!

VV Customer Service is above Par

I've never really had any experience with Vineyard Vines customer service as I've never had anything go wrong, all of my online orders came with no issues and all of the products have been great. I was beyond pleasantly surprised when I received the below comment on my post.

Hi Kimba. My name is Quinn and I work for Vineyard Vines. First of all - thanks for all the support! You certainly have quite a lot of experience with our products and I'm SO sorry to hear that the Fairwinds Fleece has already got a hole.

As I'm sure you know from all your previous experiences with us - we really pride ourselves with providing top notch customer service - so replacing the defective fleece for a new one is a no brainer. Feel free to give us a call at 800-892-4982 or email me directly at quinn@vineyardvines.com and we'll get you sorted out today.

It seems like there are a lot of people who are big fans of V.V. on here - so we'd like to extend a 20% discount for the next week to all of you in thanks for all the feedback. Just enter KIMBA at checkout and your cart will automatically be adjusted. The discount is good for everything but gift cards and licensed products (college, mlb, and nfl products). I particularly like Puttin' on the Grits comment that we'd be upset if we had a hole in our boat - we DEFINITELY would!

Have a great week! Look out for our new catalogs in the mail!

Best,
Quinn

I quickly emailed Quinn and was able to get the return info and tomorrow I will pop my fleece in the mail and will be receiving a new one! He was fast, professional and even had a VV sense of humor anyone could appreciate! I can't say enough how impressed I am with their customer service, I was truly blown away!

NOT only am I able to return my fleece with no problems, but there is a little perk in there for you, my fabulous readers!

Now through Sunday (4/5) you can receive 20% for your order, Just enter KIMBA at checkout and your cart will automatically be adjusted. The discount is good for everything but gift cards and licensed products (college, mlb, and nfl products).

Thumbs Down!

Let me start out by saying, I am the BIGGEST Vineyard Vines supporter this side of the Vineyard but this post will not support that fact.

If you have followed me for some time you'll know of my "pinky" it is my pink VV fleece that I got years ago that I have worn day in and day out and have loved loved loved. SO this last Christmas my MIL asked what I wanted and I said I would like a new "pinky" but in navy and with the logo on the bottom (Fairwinds Fleece). So come Christmas morning I opened it and was thrilled! She actually had to search the Cape high and low to find it!

Well I've been wearing it but not like I did the "pinky" I kind of save it and don't want to wear it out. Even though "pinky" is holding up strong in ALL of it's wears and washes.

Here's my story:

First I noticed it would get very "fuzzy" and "pilly" everything would stick to it as if I washed it with cheap towels, which I did not. And then today.... I found a hole...see below.

So there you have it, three months and not that many wears and I have a freaking HOLE in my $115 fleece. Vineyard Vines can you help me, are you now using cheap material and still charging the same crazy prices.

I spent almost $1000 on ties for my wedding, I have 4 totes, 1 mini tote, 6 pairs of flip flops, a long sleeve T, 10 count them 10 short sleeve polo shirts, 3 belts, 2 long sleeve polo shirts, 2 fleeces (one defective), 2 pairs of lounge pants, 5 koozies, 1 puzzle umbrella, 1 headband, 1 pair of croakies I wear daily, and speaking of daily I use the clutch as my wallet daily, MG has 5 ties, two from other wedding where multiple were purchased (not counted in his 5 or the 1 from his own wedding) KEP Designs wedding was 1 of the 2, 6 pairs of "whale" socks, 2 swimming suits. And the thanks I get is a hole.
I was thinking of returning the fleece after I couldn't get it to "wash" correctly, but there is no way they'll take it back with a hole. Just sayin' VV, I'm one gal who would stick by your side regardless of the amount of your stuff I see in TJ Maxx, but now, I think we might have to take a break.
**My signature gift to give family members is a VV tie that reminds me of them. My dad gets golf ties, my brother has light houses and a ton more. Guess I should rethink that.
OH and I see your fishing boat every summer on the Nantucket sound while we're fishing in the same waters. Really??? Really a hole??? Now that I think of it, your 27 foot Regulator has cut us off heading to the gas dock in Edgartown.
***Sorry tried to put spaces in to make three separate paragraphs, but it wouldn't work.***

'cuse is in the house oh my god oh my god....

In light off all of the bracket chatter I had to share this fablous picture of Fave B and little Fave W sporting their fave Orange!!!

If you haven't already noticed Fave B went to Syracuse and bleeds Orange!!!

I have 'cuse in the final game so i'm pulling for them right along with the fave fam!!!
*I stole this picture off of B's Facebook, hope he doesn't mind!!!

The Timothy Geithner Show

Preface, many financial firms across the country are talking about Timothy Geithner and his effect on the economy, I would like to say today at this firm just for a few minutes and a laugh that was not the case.

My very very sassy colleague Em overheard me joking to another colleague about my "love" for Timothy Geithner in which colleague #2 said "he looks like a weine". So Sassy Em kept to herself and walked to the printer and then came over and put the below pic on my wall! Gosh it made for some great comments from those not in the know. Sassy indeed!

SO not to be out done, I played along and framed my fave Geithner picture and added it to my "framed pic collection" on my desk.

My framed pictures are one of MG and I at the beach on our wedding day, a picture of us at Great Point on Nantucket and the one you see is a gal I work with at our wedding. And of course the new addition, Timmy G!

TV, DVD & ME

Sunday:
Desperate Housewives
Brothers & Sisters

Monday:
24
One Tree Hill

Tuesday:
Biggest Loser
Law & Order SVU
Real Housewives of OC/NYC/Atlanta

Wednesday:
?, i can't think of anything.

Thursday:
Kath & Kim (only when I think of it)
The Office
30 Rock
Grey's Anatomy

Honorable Mentions:
90210 (new one)
Lipstick Jungle
Private Practice
Samantha Who?
*I was only doing a list of shows currently on this season

DVR'd - a recording is set in case we have time to catch up
30 Minute Meals
Boy Meets Grill
Northeast Angling
On The Water
Divine Design
Keeping Up with the Kardashian's
Gilmore Girls reruns, I teared up when it ended
*Days of Our Lives (this may or may not actually be true, I cannot confirm)

Here are a list of must sees in the Kimba household i.e. most are mine. Pretty normal, I assume after I publish this post I will come back with more. All of these shows are DVR'd and most are watched when we have time. Our DVR recordings normally do not get watched, but it's good to have them. *One recording may or may not ALWAYS get watched, I cannot confirm. The nightly news with Brian Williams is a staple if I'm home in time. Fox 25 or 7 news always is on when we go to sleep. CNN, MSNBC are fillers for any slow nights. Now that Baseball season is upon us, we can scratch the above list and replace it with two simple powerful words, the Red Sox! A shout out to the Celtics and Bruins, a C's game does not go by without watching 95% of it!

Any fun shows are must watches in your house?

Enjoy!

My political crushes continue

As some of you may remember I have myself a mad crush on Ex-GOP FL congressman Joe Scarborough. Well you can now add US Treasury Security Tim Geithner, I think its a combo of his good looks and his job that I am attracted to. Being the biggest deal in the financial world just summed it up for me. Please tell me i'm not the only one!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAINEE!

Not only is it my birthday today, but it is also my very very best friend & Maid of Honor Liane's! How can you not be BFF's with someone who was born on the very same day (and year) as you were! I had to share a few of my favorite pictures!

Celebrating our first (19th) birthday together at the Phi Sig house, now why wouldn't a fraternity want to throw us lovely ladies a par-tay?! Why did we feel the need to wear tiaras? *If you hadn't noticed I spent a good part of my freshman year in college tanning and bleaching my hair, ugh! The frat boy in the picture I fell hard hard hard for, and only Liane can tell you how excited I was when he asked me to his formal and now well I can't even remember his last name! HA!
A trip back home to visit Liane at school!

A trip back home visiting Liane at RZ!

Cocktails and girl talk at Liane's!

Liane's first time seeing Fenway!!!

At my Madison wedding shower, with my two MOH's, JJ on the right (MG's sister!) how cute is Liane wearing my wedding colors, that's how she rolls!

Liane has a fear of flying but flew out for my batch party! All of my hot bridesmaids!

One of my favorite pictures!!! Taken at Liane's engagement party!

Music Guy and Liane breaking it down at our wedding!

Gosh we're cute, at my rehearsal dinner!

I tried to find a picture of us from her wedding as I was her MOH and mine as she was my MOH of course, but was unsuccessful. Hummm?!

Love you lots Lainee Beans and miss you terribly all the way out East!!!

Happy 2-7 to me!

Yay for me!!!!

How would you monogram this name?

Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland

I'd go by Jack Bauer if I were KWFDGRS.

Just sayin'

Yay for health and Lilly!

I'm on the upswing and feeling good!

Thank you for your very sweet thoughts! I have had a few people around me the last couple of weeks who have been sick as heck and I can't say I'm surprised I finally got it. And no I did not get a flu shot. So add that to my list of to-do's for next year.

I DVR'd the Jubilee Lilly show on Martha today and was so happy to come home and watch it! How fun was it to see our own blogging gals and my fave Jewelry Designer KEP in the audience, I can't wait for them to get home and they update with their own stories and pictures! Just like my gal TCP I wore my Lilly scarf to work today, it added a little pop to my black suit!

Did you watch?

All i can say is having it stay lighter longer and seeing all of that pink and green I AM READY FOR SPRING!!!!!!!

Cheers to All Things Lilly!

Down for the count....

I kicked off my birthday week with the stomach flu! Spent the last two days resting in bed, working in bed, blogging/twitting while laying down. Because well laying down was about the only thing I could do to not throw up.

I'm feeling better this afternoon so that is a huge plus! Yesterday I couldn't eat or drink a thing but today I was able to have some ginger ale, toast and applesauce! I am even going to try to have some chicken noodle soup tonight! Crazy kid I am!
I hope you are having a good week, hopefully I'll be back in the swing of things tomorrow! Though I enjoy a little Days of Our Lives I am starting to see reruns on The SoapNet and I need to draw the line!

Cape Bound

It was 63 on the Cape today, we took advantage and got out of the city and headed to the Cape.

I decided it was a perfect day to go for a run on the beach, so that is what I did! And it was just what I needed!

You can't see it too well but if you look closely the little white speck is the slow ferry heading over to Nantucket! How fun would it be to be on board! Though I'd prefer the fast ferry! Also the piece of land you see in the back is the Hyannisport Club where we had our wedding reception!

Though I might not be blogging daily, it's always on my mind! I thought what is preppier then my blog in sand!

Though I took a bunch of pictures I sure got a great workout in! If you saw a crazy lady doing pushups and crunches on the beach, you should have said hi, it was me! Dork! :)

Aren't we just too cute!

Check out the two pictures M took of us! I have the hardest time uploading pix from our Mac so please forgive me.

I know most of you are huge The Bachelor fans, but this gal is watching another the other Bachelor that is on Monday nights, 24, Jack Bauer never lets us down!

The snow was not to bad by the time I was up to shovel and to tell you the truth I don't mind shoveling at all. I think of it as a little extra workout! Though I prefer my morning workouts with less snow blowing into my face.

How did you ladies fare with the snow?

I would actually rather talk about the snow then the fact the Dow was under 7000, and stayed that way at the close. First time since 1997. So what were you doing in '97? I was a freshman in High School, nuff said, it's been a while.

Sorry this is so random and short, but like i said Jack's on!

Hi, welcome and thank you to my new followers!!!

Layout

As you can see I changed my layout so I could add the "followers" tab!!!

I would like to add the twitter app to the sidebar, any idea how to add it?

We had a wonderful time last night, we talked so much we forgot to snap a lot of pics. I swear if Libby were there we would have had more pictures! M did take a couple so I'll post them as soon as she gets them off her camera!

It seems a lot of us in blogland are getting some snow, be careful all!

More Blogging Meet up Post

I'm going to be sending out an email tomorrow with details for our big Saturday get together!

I have most of your emails, but if you'd like to be added leave a comment with your email address and I'll add you.

Hope you all enjoy the Oscars tonight, though I haven't seen any of the movies I can't wait for it to start!

Cruddy day in Boston so in turn I have the cleanest house on the block! I went to TJ Maxx in Somerville to see if I could score some JCrew shoes, but of course I was a little late to the party. But I'll keep my eye out!

Dow Dow Dow

I took a screen shot of my company's stock this afternoon when it hit $2.81. When I started over three years ago it was at $56.00+ a share.
Well Dow you closed this week at 7200...its been a long short week. I'm looking forward to a upswing next week, got it? I'm just sayin'!
xo,
Your biggest fan Kimba
Am I the only one who can't get enough of Bernie Madoff and the Ponzi Scheme?

In happier news, we'd love to meet you next Saturday, leave a comment if you'd like to join!

None of the above needs to be discussed!

It's great to finally meet some of the gals you share your first cup of coffee with in the morning, your lunch with at your desk or maybe even that much needed glass of wine when the kids are in bed and you are able to sit down and catch up on bloglines!

Cheers!

Preppy Blogging Meet up

We’re still on for the preppy meet up on February 28th, and I hope you still are too!

I’d like to throw out two options for you local ladies and if you would leave your vote in the comments we can tally up the winner! Both options very are close to Boston, exact locations will be give out via email to those who can make it.

Preppy Option 1) Preppy E Potluck at our favorite ladybugs house! E has volunteered to host our meet up at chez ladybug! Each of us could bring a dish that we might typically bring to outings with our friend/family. Or I was thinking a “theme” but then the only theme I can think of is Mexican or something to do with March (green beer)? HA!

Preppy Option 2) Boston Preppy Drinks and Apps - If going into the city seems more what you’re looking for; I can find a restaurant that has parking relative close, the T and of course has a prep in it!

Don’t be shy let us know what you’d prefer! As I said either choice would have you very close to Boston. We hope everyone can make it, these events always are a grand time and the memories and stories make for excellent blogging material!

If you miss this meet up don’t worry, when the weather gets nicer we’ll plan a mid-week meet up for cocktails on the water! And i'll be hosting one in the spring where we can use our "outdoor space" as us city folks like to call it.

Cheers!

Big ole weekend

Thank you for all of your comments and email, it meant a lot!

I will get the heels on Tuesday!!! The only thing is for some reason the order says a size 9 narrow were shipped while this homegirl wears a 8 or 8 1/2 no narrow in this house. So I'm thinking they will be going back. But i'll try them on and will be able to tell how wonderful they are. But I know another pair in my size will be on it's way after that pair is returned! Unless there is someone out there that is a 9 narrow and would like them. I got them for $130! Hope you didn't think I paid full price for them, no way on earth would that fly in this house! Love your husband for that come end of the month ie credit card statement time!

I was thinking about what I did last year for Valentine's Day and it brought a smile to my face. The wonderful Libs and I met for a drink! Here is a little reminder!

I actually wore that jacket to work today, without even thinking I wore it last year on V-Day to work!

I'll have a recap for our Gala tomorrow night, should be so fun!!!!

Enjoy the weekend (hopefully it's a long one)!

Cheers!

Here I am

I hate when I go a week without blogging when I have things I could be blogging about. I can only post from home (or my phone) so it gets thrown by the wayside come 7pm when I walk in the door (that's on a good night)!

We had to go to Detroit this last weekend as MG's favorite Aunt passed away from cancer. It was a tough end to last week and a very sad weekend. But she is in heaven now and no longer suffering and in pain. Never easy though.

This week will fly by as Saturday Valentine's Day we (along with MG's parents, sister and BIL)are hosting a Valentine's Day Gala sponsored by his other sister's charity (whom passed away in 2000) We still have a lot of details to wrap up but it will be a fabulous evening with great food, drinks and a silent & live auction! I'll post a recap next week!

Emotional times indeed.

On a lighter note I purchased my first pair of Cole Haan Air Pump's! A few of you have blogged about how much you love them and I have been wanting to get a pair and finally did! I ordered them online so I sure hope they come soon! I can't wait!!!
Hope you have a good week!
** I'm still tweeting away on Twitter**

Tote talk vol 87893743

Ok, so you all remember the Burberry tote I didn't like.

Well I decided to give it a test drive last night and low and behold I love it! I've been using my Lands End tote since the wedding so downsizing didn't seem like an option for me. But after I took out my wallet, and a few extra things I like to have with me the stuff left was just random crap. Like who needs 6 pens in their bag? The only thing is I like to carry files around with me to and from work to read on my commute and though they will fit, it doesn't leave a lot of room.

THAT said, thank you all for your suggestions and thoughts on the subject!

The lovely Nina asked about the points I used to buy it. Well at work they use to have this points reward system that executives could give out for "a job well done" or for really any reason. (It is the same reward company that Airlines use for their miles rewards) I think they are about 5 cents a point, so I had enough to buy the tote and an elliptical!!! The reason I had so many points was because I have not used any in the 3 plus years i've been there. I was holding on to them to get something big!

Ah yes, the elliptical... it was to arrive on Dec. 30 but because of the big snow storm we got it was delayed. So it finally arrived two weeks later and is still sitting in our foyer until the contractors are finished with our bedroom project. Which should be finished tomorrow!!!

Has anyone seen the Slap Chop ad, it is so funny, it's with Vince the ShamWow guy!

halsea bags and more

I am loving the new company halsea they have super cute and super preppy bags, accessories and a travel collection!

They have some super cute designs but I love love love the Boat Canyon collection, and I've been eyeing the clutch. I've always wanted a clutch wallet and I might have to add this little gem to my wish list!

Check out their website and find a store near you! I hope Blackstones in Beacon Hill picks up their line, it would be great to have them sold in Boston! I'm always looking for new designers and I think one takes the cake right now!

We tote ya so....

My Burberry tote came in the mail today and well, I don't like it.

I should have gone with the basic Kate, but noooo I had to be all crazy and go for the Burberry. I'm up in the air on what to do with it. Maybe if I hang on to it, it'll grown on me.

What to do...what to do...

**I got it with points so it's not as if I can just return it.

ETP and ME

I was thinking the other day when I was going through my stacks of Engligh Tea Paperie and I was thinking the lovely Chloe has known about 90% of my note card orders before I do! How you ask...

I have gotten multiple cards from my mom over the last year and half that were surprises and ended up on my doorstep without me knowing. And one time C even added in return labels because she is just that sweet!

The one that has meant the most to me was my "Something new" note cards from my wonderful Maid of Honor Liane. She had this whole box full of "something old, something blue, something borrowed and something blue". Talk about being spoiled! I will search through my pictures and post each one of them as it was the most wonderful gift I have ever gotten!

Ok back to my story, my something new where note cards with my new name on it! And of course Chole had to make them up and send them to Liane for Liane to then give to me. It was really thoughtful on Liane's part to use ETP and also said she knew it would mean even more to me knowing who made them up for me!

So all of that being said, I would march (click) your way over to ETP and check out preppy fabulous designs. I am over the moon excited for the St Patrick's Day Shamrock, I know just the person who would enjoy a set of these (I'm not talking about me!)!

I wanted to write this post because when ever I use my ETP cards I always smile because of who is behind the company a truly sassy English gal who always makes her readers laugh and her clients happy!

*AND no she has no idea i'm writing this post!!!

Drink Up

I am in love with Poland Springs Sparking water, The Raspberry Lime is a personal favorite! While over at J & G's last weekend J had gotten Raspberry Lime Adirondack sparking water in a twelve pack cans.

So while I was shopping at Stop & Shop I found their brand of that is exactly the same but 2 dollars less. And who doesn't love drinking a water called "Zazz Seltzer"?! I highly recommend it!

You know it's bad if I'm blogging about H2O!
wow, i didn't notice when I took that pic it would be a "wedding ad" rings and the picture, classic. I about 99% of the time don't wear my rings when i'm home, not sure why, they bug me I guess.

Top It Off Accessories Sale

HERE I AM! My blog has been locked for about a week and I was able to get blogger to reset my password, though the password was not the issue. It seems someone tried to "hack" into my account. I tell you people, if I was trying to do some hacking blogger would be my first stop!

On to bigger and better news, I wanted to quickly remind you all the great sale Top It Off is having for the month of January. They are offering 50% off your total order purchase with the code Cheers(discount will be applied when the order ships) and Free Shipping through the month of January.

I'm a huge fan of their belts, I love the black crab belt, I pair it with a black suit and pink button down for work. I also wear it with black pants and a black top and my pink scarf when i'm feeling sassy in the office.

That is just one of many items i'm a huge fan of. The also sent me a lovely super preppy pair of pink and green flip flops I blogged about this summer. I pretty much have worn them in, which is not easy but it is if you wear them to commute every day and I wore them in the sand and they got a little dirty. But they're holding strong! If you notice on their site they have some new styles coming out in February for those of us who are taking a mini spring break or just want to think spring!
Head on over and add a little pop to your already preppy style!

As Seen on TV - Vol 1

Strap Perfect

And I thought the Snuggie was the best thing seen on TV in ages (Shamwow is pretty close), but the Strap Perfect has to be the oddest product yet! The ad shows the women in skimpy tank tops with big bra straps, after you attach the "strap perfect" you look like you lose 10 pounds and gain a cup size.

What will they think of next?!

Yikes!

I know it's the Holidays, but i couldn't let this pass.

She is looking pretty scary.

HO HO HO

We're about to head down to the Cape for the night and then it's back into the City to host Christmas dinner!

Two years ago today, my mom and I went to the Cape for Christmas and little did I know what Music Guy had in store for me! We got engaged and it was in the 50's and there was no snow a perfect setting for a beach engagement!

I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful husband, family, friends and of course all of my blogging friends! I'm one lucky gal!

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

Cheers,

Kimba

My two picks...

I am going to go ahead and try my luck at a pair of Uggs with a Burberry tote on my arm.

I wore my winter boots all day while I was running around from store to store and I don't need to replace them yet, they're as good as new so I would be getting the Bean Boots just because I "wanted" them.

I also have a good black purse and I think the Burberry tote would be a fun add to my bag collection. And I showed Music Guy both of them and didn't like the kate. Not sure how on earth he couldn't like it.

Thank you all for your help, it was fun to read what you're picks would be! I'll let you know what I think when my purchases arrive. I will let you all say I told you so if I regreat not getting the kate spade purse! :)
