Keep it in the family...

As an Irish Catholic, that is a common stereotype of ones family...Being Irish, Catholic and a Midwesterner the heart on your sleeve is the only way to go through life.

The above is here nor there...I am gearing up for next weekend, my absolute favorite cousin is coming to Boston for a visit! Makes me smile she's coming all the way here just to see me!!

My mom sent me this picture last weekend while she was going through old pictures.

That is my cousin Kelly (left) and yours truly Kimba (right), we may be years apart, but we're as close as ever! Her parents, (ovbi my aunt and uncle) are also my godparents, she's the sister I never had!

Love you Kell, can't wait for you to get to the Bean!

Marty!!!

I was pretty impressed with the Golden Globes last evening, I thought Ricky Gervais did a great job as host. He is who he is, and I can appreciate his Irish humor! When he took his beer and put it on the podium, I laughed out loud! That was sure a jab he took at Mel Gibson, but I feel he's pretty much the only one who can get away with it, because he could care less.

Moving on....

I was touched and trilled to see Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio present Martin Scorsese the Cecil B. DeMille Award for career achievement.
I think he's truly brilliant, maybe because I'm "young" (note it's in " as I'm really not that young anymore, but it's my blog so young I am!) but I think The Departed is the best movie that Scorsese has directed. It could be for multiple reasons, it's based, filmed and all about Boston, it's a great cast, from Alec Baldwin, Martin Scheen, Leo, Matt Damon, Mark Walhberg, Vera Farmiga and many more. OR because it is the movie with the most uses of the word "f*ck" and its derivatives (237) to win the Best Picture Oscar. All of the above!

There's my favorite skyline and a not so shabby Leonardo DiCaprio who I really didn't do anything for me, but he looked pretty snazzy in his tux last night...just sayin'!

I'm currently on my flight to LA, I can't get over how AWESOME it is to be online, with my laptop plugged into a power outlet under my seat. My work computer laptop has a shotty battery at best so I did a ton of work yesterday as I didn't think I could get it done on my 6 hour and 30 minute flight, but guess I was wrong. But I'm blogging, twitting, facebooking, catching up on golden globe fashion and then I'll suck it up and get some more work done.
One last thing: if anyone is paying attention to the weather, I just left Boston where we had hail and it was snowing...heading to Southern Cal where it's cold and raining. How it is possible I'm going to the only other place in the country that is having cruddy weather too?! But I'm not complaining, I'm really looking forward to it! Remind me of that when I get on the red eye on Thursday night. Oy!

Bloggin' about this weekend already?

I am very excited about the upcoming weekend! My cousin Kell flies in tomorrow evening from Chicago to spend the weekend in Boston with me! I have to work for most of the day on Friday so she is going to take a map and bum around the city. But Friday evening I'll make sure to show her a good time!

Saturday we are going to do lunch/shop on Newbury and head down to Landsdown St to watch the Sox game. Kell is a huge Cubs fan and is looking forward to seeing Fenway and the way us Sox fan party! I am hoping she has some idea's of what she wants to see/do because I've seen and done it all so I might over look some places "tourist" would enjoy.

Any of you lovely ladies either from Boston or have visited Boston have some suggestions for showing a gal from Chi-town around?

Music Guy will be at a bachelor party all weekend so it'll end up being a perfect gals weekend!

In other news I swear there were 100+ people on the bus this morning and it was stuffy and hot. I got off the bus and it started raining, needless to say I'm on my way to get a latte, that is the only thing that will kick this day off right!

Happy Hump Day! :)

CUT THE SHIT

BREAKING NEWS: Traffic is snarled downtown as more suspicious objects have been found by police in various locations. State police bomb experts are now examining a suspicious item attached to the Longfellow Bridge. Traffic is backed up on Storrow Drive Eastbound before the Longfellow Bridge. That stretch of roadway had been closed but is now open. Meanwhile, Boston police are investigating suspicious items at Columbus and Stuart streets and near the New England Medical Center. Earlier today a device was found on the BU Bridge and on an underpass of I-93 North at Sullivan Station. So far no explosives have been found at any location, according to broadcast reports.

Nothing like a normal day in the city!
